If your debating, read the WHOLE THING: I actually came here for the first time 30 minutes before closing (my bad yall, I was hungry) and they ran out of a couple things, but the cashier was a super nice man and even the (probably) "bottom of the pot" food was still DELICIOUS! I will have to come again to taste it fresher, but I would love to be blessed with another location closer to my house. No hard feelings, but Choukoya is for night-outtings and THIS PLACE is for eats. One thing I do ask however, is that the TV isn't playing music videos because they tend to be graphic. Fufu portions are CORRECT. not a little snack, but as a fufu LOVERRR, they actually give you enough for a sitting. I personally like a 2:1 ratio of fufu to stew, but that's just me!
One bowl of egusi, especially yam and peanut stew fills me up for at least two meals. I'm not a big eater, but I don't have a itty-butty belly either. It took me and my brother, THREE WHOLE DAYS of eating fufu and these 3 stews (peanut, yam, egusi) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to finish! I ordered these three at the same time, to taste them. To be honest, the peanut soup is way better than Choukouya plus they don't have yam stew which is MY STUFF. I like this spot better than Choukouya (?) Bar that's 20-30ish minutes away from here. No hard feelings, this is just an AMAZING AUTHENTIC spot that is affordable for everyday eating.
Alright ya'll, Jesus loves you and come on and eat here! FOR REAL YALL, this is my SPOT when I'm...
Read moreThis is hands down thee BEST black owned business in food service I have EVER worked for. Paid: ON TIME, Atmosphere: Chill and to the point. Schedule Flexibility: ON 10, Training: ON POINT. Yes, it's not Chipotle corporate but NONE of the typical shenanigans. The only reason I'm moving on from here is to pursue my life goals. The owner is AMAZING. He has a positive, personable attitude, gives correctives in a nice & understandable manner & is available. Everyone is cool. And you are paid SOLIDLY. Do your job, and everything will go well. It's that simple. And the food. THE FOOOD. Mouthwatering. Masterful, Michelin excellence in a customizable bowl. The best employee meal I've had and it did not get old. And where are you going to find Jerk Oxtails? Or even Jerk Chicken and Fufu on the same menu? Those ginger curry chickpeas - the sweetness will blow your mind, ugh. I'm finishing them as we speak. And the sauces.......on MARS (my favorite is the Buffalo Jerk). Their cooking truly shows mastery of culinary school techniques brought to the average consumer. It's just THAT good. AND as a Muslim woman in that space, I NEVER felt uncomfortable. I'm truly going to miss it, but they DEF-infinitely have a...
Read moreI just want to leave a raw n uncut review of my experience…walked in greeted great greet conversation sampled some proceeds to order fast forward to check out complete disaster🥲. He says your total is 39.00 talking real fast ok how I ordered a to go bowl but he slid the bigger bowl in quick n filled it I had the soup again slid the biggest size in there unbeknownst to me I’m picky lol so he starts saying well this is 18 this is this I’m like no because your menu stated this price so he’s like well I’m going to give you a discount so ultimately he was trying to hustle me out of 10 measly dollars which I found disgusting. If times are that hard close down sheesh it was so embarrassing because I had to say something I couldn’t believe the guy he was very friendly. So on to the food the curry chicken was wayyyy to hot 🥵 if it’s that hot you should have spice level options because thst was insane but it was good I just couldn’t taste the curry which I love. The plantains were amazing n the mango sauce was a vibe. I had both vegan soups they were ok lentils could have been cooked longer. Chicken was juicy but I like the bone sometimes this cut didn’t have any oh and the fufu was cold and undercooked...
