The only reason I’m leaving 1 star is because I have to. Although the food wasn’t terrible and our waiter was attentive, the management is absolutely horrible. We sat at the table directly beside the door that leads out to the pier. After spending $400 in this establishment and after our ticket was paid our 9 yr old son walked out that door to look at the pier a few steps ahead of my husband and I. When we went to exit through the door, we were stopped by the rudest person. This very rude staff member who we later found out was “a manager“ stopped my husband and I and told us, while shaking her finger, that we couldn’t use that door because it was a service door and not for customers. My husband said “Okay, well how do we get out there”. The miserable girl then says “Well, I guess since your son is already out there, just go!” With the worst attitude. So of course, my husband and I proceeded to use the door while looking at her and then one another and thinking well okay, RUDE! But whatever!! We walked halfway down the pier to let our son take a look below when we see Ms. Miserable on her high horse rush by us. 5 minutes later a “security guard” came to us and told us that we had to leave. When asked what we done he stated that we were being rude. Which was a crock of salt. I then asked to speak to a manager and along the way to speak to “the manager” I sure did tell every customer, staff member, anyone that was there what happened to us and that it was ridiculous. Each staff member that I told, only replied with a sarcastic “okay” and kept walking… Once we returned back to the walk up window to speak to the manager (with escort service 🙄) we were told that the manager was otw. After standing there for several minutes with no manager in sight of approaching to help us, I asked them if the manager was the one that had us escorted off and was told yes and that her name was Britney. Which explains why she never came when we asked to speak to a manager. Instead, ANOTHER “security guard” (and I say that lightly) was sent to “help” escort us off the property. By this time I was furious and everyone knew it because I made sure they all knew it. We were followed to the end of the parking lot WHILE BEING RECORDED and was even told that they would have us trespassed because I was expressing my opinion after being treated like complete dirt for walking through the wrong door. Which would have been fine because we wouldn’t step foot back at that establishment if they were the last ones on earth- Maybe you should have the “SERVICE" door that isn’t for customers marked a little more noticeable so that it’s well known that it isn’t suppose to be used! It is absolutely despicable that they allow staff to treat customer’s this way!!! Shame...

From translucent skin due to the maderisation of the Snow Birds to the dazed hangover look, the Cocoa Beach Pier has been a mainstay in Brevard County or over 50 years. Long known as a tourist trap the random name generator forces me to wade into the morass of broken dreams and forgotten vacation promises. Pier 62 boasts “a wholly new concept with a brand-new menu. I must say the inside was spotless and the place did have a “new” feel to it.
Zuko is our waiter today—he is perfect for a tourist town. He has the banter, the easy smile and the foresight to keep the tables moving at a quick, but not rushed pace. Zuko is an early entrant into the 2Q best service list, which comes out in one month. Stay tuned! I asked Zuko for one Shrimp Po' Boy with a side of slaw, one Beach Burger and a Kahakai Taco with grouper. Awaiting the return of Zuko with our subsistence, I snapped the obligatory pics of the interior and settled in. It wasn't all that long of a wait before Zuko returned laden with our fare.
The Shrimp Po' Boy, a traditional Southern sandwich was not at all tasty. I've said it a million times and I will say it a million more, “Any sandwich begins with the bread.” A delicious base is a must for a truly delectable sandwich. This bread was a few days past it's freshness date and had the dry taste of a cardboard box. No wait, that's an insult to cardboard boxes everywhere. The shrimp was incredibly unpleasant. The texture was mushy and the taste fell flat on the palate. Don't even get me started on the flavorless liquid that passes for a Remoulade sauce around here.
Steeling my taste buds, I moved on to the Beach Burger. Surprisingly, it was tasty, albeit tiny and very reminiscent of the 80s Wendy ad campaign, “Where's the Beef?” I mean this was all bun, but at least the bun wasn't stale and the burger was adequate.
I turned my attention to the last item up for review, the Kahakai Taco with Grouper. Grouper is one of my favorite fish in the sea and is very hard to screw up. I mean, as long as you don't overcook it and turn it into a show tongue, you can't go wrong. I take that back. While the grouper was fine and dandy and all a grouper should be, the tortilla, like the above Po' Boy bread was about a week past it's freshness date. It was monstrously stale. Sadly, the only good item here is the slaw. I doubt it's made fresh in the back, but even food service slaw can be tasty with the proper seasoning.
The Big Boy says, “Come and see the historic Cocoa Beach Pier, but if you plan on eating at Pier 62 Oceanfront Restaurant & Bar, I would suggest you eat before you arrive and maybe enjoy a few cocktails there while taking in the...
Read moreVisited Cocoa Beach with my family! We were looking forward to having the time of our lives as a family. We really were excited to visit the beach and the peir. I took our family for lunch at Pier 62. I expected pricey food, good atmosphere and professional customer service. Unfortunately Peir 62 wouldn't allow my family to sit together. They took us to the sushi bar area and set us at 2 high tops. So being a problem solver and wanting to be close with my family I pushed the hightop tables together. We had to move the table about 1.5 feet. This was against policy and We were immediately corrected. Like a bad SNL skit with the soup-n@zi. We are talking less than 2 ft. The restaurant policy policy were unwilling to yield and immediatley demanded I separate my family and the tables. I have three kids. This was supposed to be a family meal. This was supposed to be a family vacation together. Peir 62 Management didn't agree, the reason was that it "was against policy". Probably the worst excuse they could have offered. It wasn't a safety concern, it wasn't because the tables were immovable, it was because of "policy".
Our server was pleasant and tried her best to help us. The food was cooked as we asked and actually quickly brought to our table. The food is brought out on small aluminum trays. For the price of the food, you might expect a plate and glass, which isn't the case. We all received a clear plastic mini cup. I suppose it's better than nothing, but come on for the price. This is just silly and a petty insult. Maybe it's because I tried to slide tables together and be with my family.
We weren't able to talk with each other over the music and the "policy." After we finished our food, I started to pay and asked for the policy number. They told me they didn't have it, that it was told to them. I asked if it was on the website or written down anywhere. They replied that it wasn't. I asked if this was really a policy or just something they didn't want done. They told me it was just common sense. Then they started telling me it was fire code. It was apparent they didn't know what they were talking about and just throwing things against the wall to see what sticks. To challenge it, some I asked if they moved the tables to clean. They said they didn't. They just kinda tip it - gross.
As good as our server was She couldn't save...
