Updated review: I'm updating my review based on some recent changes to their donuts. Theyve started cutting corners and it's impacting the quality of their donuts. The formula for the filling seems to have changed from a custard pudding quality to more like their icing. They've also stopped doing filled donuts and instead are cutting donuts in half and slapping on the filling like a sandwich. Overall they taste worse and they are messy. Really messy. The inside of the donut gets a little stale and the croissant layers don't taste as fresh this way. They cited the reason for the change was time because it took too long to fill them. I'd argue that's why I pay so much per donut. Original review: Ever since I came to Colorado, I've been looking for what I like to call a "bougie" donut place. A donut place where they make every ingredient from scratch and you can TASTE it. A donut place that puts more effort into making truly fresh tasting donuts. Atlanta has quite a few of these types of donut places and I missed that while living here for a few years now. As of this morning, I'm glad to say I have gotten my fix. My husband and I tried their Vanilla bean, smore's, and caramel cronuts. Also had one of their old fashioned donuts. They are light donuts. Not overly sweet. You can taste the butter in the layers of the cronut. These taste like they came from a artisan bakery, not your run-of-the-mill donut shop of which this state has countless. This is a true artisanal donut where you are torn about peeling each layer or getting a full bite in so you can taste all the flavors of the donut at once. For those reviews complaining about the price, the amount of effort that goes into these donuts is immense. They've sold out of donuts before 11 AM both days they've been open so far. I'd honestly pay more than the $5.50 they charge because nice food costs money and I'd rather have nicer food less often than cheap, crappy food more often. No artificial food coloring or dye, even their pink "classic-looking" donut is made with powdered berries to make it pink. These also fill you up a bit more than a regular donut because the dough has substance and density. These aren't like krispy kreme where you eat one and it was like eating air. If you are looking for dunkin donut, regular style donuts that take an hour to make, do not come here. If you want a nice, truly artisanal donut that is entirely made from scratch that take days to make and preserve those buttery layers, and create the glazes and fillings, this is the place for you. Show up early or they might sell out of your preferred flavor.

Me and my husband stumbled on this donut shop this morning. my husband loves sweets so we went in to get a donut. as soon as we walked in the door the nice last behind the container greeted us and told us how their donuts are made. these aren't just any donuts. we picked 6 (at 6 donuts you get 10% off). the options were fantastic Boston, cookies and milk, passion fruit, monkey bread, coconut cream. unfortunately i can't remember them all. they offered to warm my money bread up i was like idk but she said trust me it's worth it. so we pay and sit down i took the first bite and OMG IT WAS AMAZING!!! i can't think of it if I've ever had better monkey bread so then my hubby tells me to try the boston cream OMG AMAZING!! they melt in your mouth, so soft, sweet, and delicious. as i say down to write this i had to get up and get the passion fruit donut i still have. it sounded different so why not try something i normally wouldn't do. but same thing YUMMY-AMAZING. me and my husband will definitely be back. And i almost forgot we actually got to meet the 3 dads that went into business together and opened this place. the one Dad actually came out sat with us and told us the story of how they came to open this wonderful donut heaven. it was really nice that usually doesn't happen a lot of times owners don't make the time to sit with their customers. i really enjoyed the story and if course the donuts.

I love donuts and have been hoping for a new donut shop in the springs for a long time, so was ecstatic when I heard about Dad’s Donuts opening. Location, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. Every employee was pleasant and helpful and though they were busy, the line moved smoothly. Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed with the donuts. I arrived a little later than anticipated, so many of the more popular varieties had already sold out; I decided on passion fruit, raspberry, and coconut. Though certainly creative and ambitious, the donuts simply fell a little flat for me. They were good, but not great and, to me, fell squarely in between the archetypes of “light/fluffy” and “Rich/indulgent.” For the objectively high price point (from a guy who religiously hunts donut shops these are literally the most I’ve ever paid for a donut) I simply expected a little better. With that said, they clearly care about their craft and I will be back in the near future to give them another shot.

Don't mind the negative reviews. Try it at least once and be your own judge. Honest review here from an unaffiliated, brutally honest but not entitled Foodie with high expectations and will always pay a little extra for high quality....These donuts are very delicious and you can taste the love and the quality of the ingredients they use. Top tier.... And I am one hundred percent a snob with my food and literally am a stickler for good service. I thought I would be nice and share my stash I had just come home with, with family that visited unexpectedly. Now I wish I hadn't and had kept them for myself instead. We cut each flavor in fourths so we could try them all. We all loved each and everyone that we got. Flaky yet perfectly chewy and not overly sweet. Perfection. Did not feel gross, sick or sluggish like when eating the usual overly processed donut. Additionally, the service was great. Also I was not there for opening weekend but what people fail to understand is nothing goes according to plan on opening day or weekend for any business. You can plan ahead and predict so much but some things you just have to learn and adapt along the way for crying out loud. Insert eye roll here. Honestly super disappointed in some of these reviews especially from those that reviewed the place before they opened and before they could even give them a try. People seriously suck. Way to damage a brand new and local small business, damning them before giving them a...
