Disappointing Experience - Not Worth the Price
I recently dined at this Mexican restaurant, and I have to say, it was a major letdown. As Texans, we have high standards when it comes to Mexican food, and this place did not meet them at all. We spent over $50 on just two burritos and four tacos, which is already pushing it for what we expected.
First off, the meat was incredibly bland. There was no flavor whatsoever, which is a cardinal sin for any Mexican dish. The sauces were just as disappointingâno kick, no authenticity, nothing to elevate the meal. It felt like they just threw everything together without any thought to the seasoning or traditional flavors.
To top it all off, the service was lackluster. The only interaction we had was when they took our tacos away after we expressed our dissatisfaction. There was no effort to make things right or offer us any alternatives. It felt like they didnât care about our experience at all.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. For the price we paid, we expected much better food and service. If youâre looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine, save your money and look elsewhere. This place just doesnât cut it.
In addition to your response I must clarify a few points to set the record straight. We did not ask for a refund; we merely provided honest feedback about our experience. Instead of engaging in a constructive conversation, we were met with an attitude that suggested our opinions didnât matter. The comment, âWell if you donât want it I can just take the plate,â was quite dismissive and left us feeling undervalued as customers.
As for the claim that we were offered replacement food, that is simply not true. There was no offer made to us at any point during our visit. We were disappointed with the meal, and rather than being met with understanding, we felt like we were being blamed for not enjoying the food.
It's unfortunate that our experience has been misrepresented. We genuinely wanted to share our feedback in hopes of improvement, but instead, it feels like we were met with defensiveness rather than a willingness to listen. We always appreciate restaurants that value customer input, but in this case, we felt dismissed and...
Read moreWe came back a couple of times trying a couple of dishes and desserts, it was so delicious. 5/5 for all of the dishes we tried. We are excited to come back and try other dishes. Crepes - elasticity was good, not dry, and the toppings were fresh. Mini pancakes - 1 inch by 1 inch pancakes, about 20 of them and can taste the vanilla flavoring in the pancake and the toppings were fresh and delicious. Churros plain - tough and chewy but packed with flavor and not too much cinnamon and sugar which was lovely. Waffle on a stick - the vanilla smell is the first thing you notice when they're in front of you. It is so light and fluffy and I got Nutella on it which was chefs kiss. Great for kiddos! Fish tacos - delicious, get 3 with 2 diff sauces. Fish was cooked well and we're flavorful. Carne asada fries - LARGE basket, totally surprised us. The fries stayed crispy the whole time with queso on it and the meat was excellent quality. Birria Burrito - delicious beef that is so flavorful, juicy, with melted cheese. The consomme that came with it was packed with flavor. Was very full afterward. Pambazo - omg the bread on this was amazing. The potato has some spice to it, my nose ran a bit and the cheese on this was delightful. Queso Birria Taco - same as the burrito, packed with flavor and you get 3 tacos as well as the...
Read moreWe ordered take out over the phone and the person who answered was direct and to the point. Kept asking, "Anything else?" Like I was ordering a lot. FYI: I was ordering for 3 people. Would have preferred to order online but the online menu doesn't have a bunch of their entre's listed. I ordered blind as we've never ordered here before. All I saw were pictures and reviews. She hung up before giving me a total or before I could say I was 10 minutes away.
I'm not leaving this to be a jerk, I truly hope the owners read it and learn but they need to ask when you want your food.
Upon pick up and $75 + 15% tip later, my food was on the counter waiting when I got there. I took my food and drove another 10 minutes home. The chicken and birria tostada's were tasty but almost cold and soggy. The birria tacos were delicious. Birria consume' was delicious! Barbacoa tacos were dry. Really dry. Salsa cups were provided and the salsa is tasty too.
If we eat at Sofia's again it would be dine in only. $75 is way too much money for soggy tacos...
