Does not honor their own gift card!! My friend bought me a gift card here in February for my birthday. I saved it for a special date and went in August. When I tried to pay with the gift card I was informed they cannot accept it! They said they switched gift card systems and have no way of verifying the amount on my gift card. They said they had a sign posted in their restaurant for a few months notifying customers to bring in their old gift cards. Obviously I never saw the sign. My friend who bought the gift card was never notified either. The whole point of a gift card is it doesn't expire unless the restaurant goes out of business!!! They basically stole money from their customers without any attempt to notify specific customers who purchased gift cards. The staff took my phone number so the owner could call me back. It's been months now and I never got a call. The gift card had $30 and I could not use any of it!!! To owner: you lied in your reply to Scott saying "Scott, sorry for the inconvenience, but we have no way to read the old gift cards. We had multiple signs up for 5 plus months that the old gift cards were no longer being accepted once July was over and ended up extending it to the end of August" I went in August and it was not honored and you never called me back!!! Surely you have records of who you sold gift cards to and can seek to make it right with your customers or notify them instead of placing a sign that may not be seen. For me it is very rare to eat out and I was saving the gift card for a special treat! How unjust to not honor it with no warning to me, for how could I know you had a sign! Also, how big was the sign? And did you notify every customer or point it out to them? Because I came once during the months you had a sign to pick up food for my family, but I never noticed any sign, nor was it pointed out to me. UPDATE: I went in and was given a cardboard gift card (not the new system they are using, but a much older one) with an expiration date at the end of the year for the $30 amount on my gift card. I did see the sign stating the old gift cards would not be redeemable after July, now that I was looking for it. It was printed on a regular size piece of paper, one sign among many posted around their checkout counter. You'd have to sit there for a while...
Read moreSuch a disappointing and awful customer service experience today!!! Let me preface this with a few things - Thai Mint is literally our favorite restaurant ever!! We support Thai Mint AT LEAST once a week if not twice a week.we have a big family so we spend anywhere from $40-$100 per outing. This was our go to spot for the last 6 years!! Meaw has come to love our family and vice versa. She’s the sweetest and kindest person EVER. We bring out of town family and friends here, recommend it to everyone we know, and supported them tremendously throughout COVID. We have never complained about a meal here (that says a lot when you’ve been coming here for 6+ years) and we have never complained about the service!! A few weeks ago a male server completely forgot about me and I never said a word - I was gracious and forgiving. Fast forward to today - I decided to venture out and try something new. I didn’t like it at all. It was bland and overall not very good. I told Christine (or Christina?? Not sure her name as she’s never been the friendliest) that I really didn’t like it and would love if I could get something else. She said no and that they’re a small business and can’t afford to do that. Now mind you… we have spent thousands of dollars here. You would think that making a loyal customer happy over a $14 meal that wasn’t great is a heck of a lot better than losing a long time customer . Not only did she decline my request she was rude and lacked customer service skills. She kept saying nothing was wrong with it but if the customer simply doesn’t like it that’s what’s wrong with it! Plain and simple. We will miss Meaw and Thai Mint greatly but we will not be back after this. We will gladly support a business who knows how to treat loyal customers.I obviously understand you can’t do this for every customer who doesn’t like a meal but at least use wisdom and not lose customers .over ONE meal they didn’t like. And another thing since she kept talking about small business. Any smart small business owner knows that regulars are what keep your...
Read moreMy family and I really enjoyed our food (we ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Green Curry with Chicken, and Pad Prik Pow Talay with Chicken) - it was our first time to this restaurant, and we thought it was great. Until a few hours later when I began to feel very ill. I then proceeded to spend the next several hours violently ill with food poisoning - thankfully, it was only me and not the whole family. The only thing that I ate that my family did not was the Sriracha chili sauce/chili peppers/powdered hot spices that the waitress brought to the table in 3 small pots with serving spoons - and I'm pretty sure that was the problem.
Today, once I felt human enough to do so, I called to let the owners know what happened - their repeated response was "that's not possible". They also told me it was because I couldn't handle the spices - but I know that's not true because I eat and enjoy very spicy foods like these from other restaurants and have never been ill because of it. When I explained this to them, the response was still "that's not possible". They assured me that they'd just been cleared by the health inspector and had the report if I wanted to see it - but refused to acknowledge that their might be a problem with the table condiment trio.
When I told them that I wouldn't be back, their response was, "Okay, bye."
It's too bad, because the experience started out so positively, but the ending and the response from the owners left a very bad taste in my mouth.
Eat there at your own risk - and I'd suggest you avoid the spicy...
