We spent last week in Copper Mountain, Colorado for our now annual spring break ski trip. We stayed in the same condo building as last year and stuck to many of the same ski slopes. However one thing did change, the newly opened Ten Mile Tavern quickly became our go to spot for dinner.
If you are familiar with Copper, Endo's Adrenaline Cafe is no more and Ten Mile Tavern has taken it's place. While we enjoyed Endo's a time or two, I think the new space is a tremendous upgrade. For starters there are 20 beers on tap at the newly rebuilt bar!
A variety of low and high top tables are available throughout the segmented space. One spot in particular would be great in the summer as garage doors can open up to a large patio when the weather is warm.
On our first visit my wife and I started with the Brussels sprouts with bacon, lemon, and Cajun spice served with a spicy aioli ($10). Dishes like these are why we have become such a big fan of Brussels sprouts. They were tenderly oven roasted and seasoned to perfection.
My kids enjoyed the corn dog offering on both occasions ($9 with choice of side). The price was high for this item, but it is on mountain dining after-all.
The peak one pie features house tomato sauce, bacon, pepperoni, bell peppers, Mozzarella, and goat cheeses ($14). Though the menu says these are personal size, the thicker style crust is filling and the pizza can easily be shared with the addition of an appetizer or salad.
On our second visit my wife and I started with the beer battered cauliflower in 10 Barrel Pub Beer tempura batter, then tossed in house buffalo sauce and served over a bed of pickled cucumbers, celery, Arcadian greens, and Cotija cheese ($10). As much as I loved the Brussels sprouts, the cauliflower was my favorite thing we ordered on either visit. This is a must try dish!
I also sampled the hogback sandwich on our second visit, which is sort of a Cuban style sandwich. It combines spiral cut ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, and mayo-mustard relish pressed on a ciabatta roll ($14). The relish was more of a sauce and was actually served on the side, which I used dip my sandwich in. The meat was tasty and the bread was soft of lightly toasted. A solid choice for dinner and Ten Mile Tavern is as good as it...
Read moreWe have gone to this restaurant a hand full of times and for the most part everything was good up until our last visit this last Sunday Aug 25th. First of all I ordered an Arnold palmer and my server Jacqueline brought out a lemonade! I mean come on! How do screw that up??? Then my group of 6 and I all ordered food and ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for it! Not to mention that there was only a few other tables that had people sitting at them so clearly it was NOT busy and also it looked like the cooks where sitting at another table just chilling there all hanging out with eachother. Very unprofessional!! Then when we FINALLY got our food, my boyfriend and I shared a hamburger and it literally tasted like it was days old and the French fries were clearly not fresh either! They were cold and extremely chewy! When we asked our server about it all she could do was offer us some new fries and then she rudely said "I don't know about the hamburger but I literally just watched them put it on the grill" and walked away and rolled her eyes! Then when we got our checks she couldn't even offer us a discount on anything on our food! Worst service ever!!! I will never come back here and I hope our server gets fired for her incompetence and attitude!! This is really...
Read moreWe sat down for breakfast, openend the menu and it was dirty. Looked at the table and it was dirty as well so I pointed to the dirty fingerprints and smudges on the menu and the waitress looked at me like "is that what you want as well?" So I said "It's dirty". She looked at me like "Yes? And your point is?" So I had to tell her that that is gross. Then I asked if the table could be wiped and she said "Nobody else has complained". And I said, "That's basic cleanliness" and she said "well you're not eating off the table", and this went on with her arguing with me about basic cleanliness and the fact that you expect it in a restaurant. Clean the tables and the menus! The tables are blackened in parts with ancient grime that does not wipe off. They need a good scrubbing. Then I wondered about the kitchen and how dirty and filthy it must be. Makes you wonder about the cooking and cleanliness standards of the kitchen. I don't want to go back to this place again. I don't trust it to be even reasonably sanitary because they apparently do not care or think it's important. Ugh.
The food was ok, I had the green chili burrito, but the tortilla was hard and dry. I couldn't cut through it. My husband had basic bacon eggs and hash browns...
