We placed an order on Christmas day and received a confirmation text at 7:04pm. We recognized it is a crazy day for them and had zero problem waiting an hour and a half before driving over to collect our order (even tho we were told it would be 50 minutes). My boyfriend having previous experience with this establishment on Christmas, we were ok with this. I ran a sushi establishment in Charleston, SC so I was also empathetic. However, despite our generosity with time (after waiting in line, we're sitting at an hour and forty-five minute wait time), our food wasn't even started! He said he never got the order, and then we presented the order number that we received with the confirmation text. He then scrambled and had to call our order to the kitchen. He proceeded to make us pay for the order and we end up waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes. We did not receive any compensation, gift card, or any form of genuine "I'm sorry" for our wait. We received a measly verbal apology and thank you. Having worked in the industry for 15 years, I was genuinely shocked when he purposely ignored my statement of our wait time (he looked at me then darted his eyes). Not that I expect anything for free, but I was very surprised I wasn't even offered. After so long in the industry and previously managing an establishment, I know how customers feel when they are treated as just another number and more money in the bank. I was very disappointed in how our situation was handled. I understand mistakes happen and it's a busy day, but I feel like he could have done more. For what it's worth, the food is...
Read moreThis is hands down my favorite Chinese place in Columbus, and I order from them regularly. They are quick, follow order notes to a T, and my pick-up/delivery order always arrives correct and piping hot.
After ordering their food more times than I can count, I can easily say my go-to dishes are: Tofu steak - A bit spicy and a great texture, good choice for tofu beginners. Honestly I think it tastes kind of like buffalo wings. Choy sum - One of my FAVORITE leafy greens, which I can only find fresh here and at Red Chili Asian Kitchen. They make it vegan for me (garlic instead of oyster sauce).
I can also recommend the Singapore rice noodles, garlic eggplant, spicy string beans, eggplant WITH green beans, and their potato or cauliflower chili pots. (If you have never had chili pot, please be aware you are supposed to eat around the peppercorns, which cause a "numbing" sensation in the mouth.) My omnivorous partner likes the string beans and garlic chicken.
They have an expansive menu of both American-Chinese dishes and authentic Chinese dishes and I have only had a a fraction. I have not loved everything I tried, but I think it was more a matter of personal tastes and not quality of food. In terms of Chinese take-out, their quality and freshness definitely seems to be at the better end of...
Read moreOne of my new favorites! Authentic menu and fast service. Their take on many common dishes is a little different but still good. The chili pots are #1- lots of leeks onions garlic and peppers and aromatics. Yum! Choy sum with garlic, water spinach with preserved bean curd, and stir fried cabbage are go-to favorite ways to get your greens. Garlic eggplant is really good, not overly sweet as it typically is elsewhere. Other favorites are the shredded potatoes, spicy bean curd skin, spicy sour bean sprouts and bean curd skin with jalapenos.
Less favorite but still good are the tofu steak, salt and pepper tofu, and the string beans. I did not like the tofu steak at first but eating it as leftovers the next day, it was delicious. I love the salt and pepper tofu but I really wish it had a lot more seasoning- it is really light on hot peppers and onions and not salty enough.
The one negative for me so far is the rice. It is tasteless and very sticky. This probably will not bother a lot of people, and it is certainly not a dealbreaker for me, but I prefer the distinctive flavor and texture of perfectly cooked Jasmine rice. Luckily I often have this on hand at home.
Overall this is a great place for those who enjoy real Chinese food. Still happily working my way through all the...
