The Good Kitchen 614 — Restaurant in Columbus

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the big fan on the ceiling with mounds of dirt caked up on the blades. Then you have to deal with the rude young guys who seem like they’d rather be anywhere else doing anything other than working. ( the ladies working the first time were nice I guess ) but then you can’t order over the phone ? You have to come in ? That’s just bad business. Last thing is the food, I’ve had a few items and all are just passing for edible. The Mac is dry and bland, the chicken is seasoned well but always and I mean ALWAYS undercooked! The baked beans are okay if you like onions in them ? Anyways. I’ve been here 4 or 5 times because it’s local and black owned but I can’t be supporting bad business. Please clean up and have someone who’s passionate about the food they serve. A lot of potential but falls very flat with all things considered. Also! The prices are insane!! 16 dollars for a main and two sides? That’s more than city bbq and roosters? And I can get more with a better atmosphere and service. Come...

So glad my husband and I got to pick up dinner tonight at The Good Kitchen 614. The perch was cooked and seasoned perfectly, I crave their greens each time I'm nearby and oh my the brocolli and cheese is my favorite - no frozen chopped up broccoli; it's fresh, slightly cooked, so you get all the flavor of broccoli complimented by authentic savory cheese, not runny cheesy sauce. Because the broccoli was nearly gone we got an extra portion of Mac and Cheese that just hit the spot. Their chicken wing dings are cooked hard with lots of crunch - never over cooked. I saw that The Good Kitchen 614 had reopened after a short period of time to rejuvenate. I had a great conversation with Will about the time off and the decision to return. The Good Kitchen 614 is such a pillar in the community and does so much good. On to the food today. Ordered the Salisbury Steak with onions and gravy. So tender and flavorful. Greens with pork just like grandma made. Then the Mac n cheese which is made the old fashioned way, baked in the oven. Could have ordered more. Yummmy. Then there were the baked beans, OMG!!!
