This will be a lengthy review but if you are reading this and considering ordering a meal from this Palace of palette disappointment. Allow me to assist you.
Strap in for a descriptive account of this flavorless journey.
Let's start with the Wonton soup, it has the appearance of 50% oil 50% sadness. No aroma (very odd) at all. Inside of this bowl of dishwater there was what could be best described as a yellow colored piece of wet bread found in spongebobs garbage disposal.
The spring roll, while this actually had an aroma.... think socks made of cabbage. The egg roll wrap was the consistency of a good old fashioned loogie after drinking milk on a summer day hiking through the desert.
Speaking of desert, the fried rice... while I appreciate recycling to an extent, I never thought it be someone else's rice from last week onto my plate but different strokes for different folks. I've never had rice scooped that maintained it's original formed shape like moonsand despite taking a bite. The mound of sawdust they called rice was seasoned much like the previous items, with hopes and dreams only.
For the Coup de grâce.... General Tso's Chicken. I'm not an expert on Chinese history by any means nor do I know if it is named after a real person, however the Tso family should sue for defamation of character over this reddish colored chicken like substance. By chicken like I mean nothing chicken like, at best it was white previously chewed bubble gum made into strings and wrapped with the residue of new black socks then dyed in a miraculously flavorless redish substance.
The fortune Cookie resembled a world war II era soldiers boots with shockingly less flavor than the translucent plastic shards they call rice. The paper could've atleast had a middle finger drawn on it lemme know how they felt about me as they allowed me to pay for this amazing food.
I am going to purchase prosthetic hands from a medical supply to use because just my own 2 thumbs down is not a fair enough...
Read moreFirst time ordering. Disappointed we couldn’t "eat in" even though they were open until 10pm on a Friday according to their website …. BUT! They were still filling carry out orders!! So call ahead if you want to "dine in" to make sure.
We did order two carry outs from the Special Combination menu … Steak Kow & Stir Fried Chicken Almond with Vegetables. The meal included vegetable rice, one roll and we had wonton soup AND fresh fortune cookies. The egg roll was quite tasty and nicely filled with meat & veggies (pretty sure re ingredients) but it was GOOD! The wonton soup was nicely flavored and had one big wonton and some onion. And the meals were filling and very tasty. The Steak Kow was tender, not stringy, rubbery or tough as we have experienced at other local carry outs and the peppers were fresh with a goodly amount of meat and a nicely flavored sauce. The almond chicken stir fry was just everything I wanted. Kudos to the chef on his/her fine effort. The same was true of the vegetable rice … nicely prepared and tasty. We were happily surprised with our meals, even with the amount of food. We had a bit left for a small lunch the next day and are looking forward to finishing it off.
Our order was prepared within 15 minutes and waiting for us when we arrived and all was "still" hot when we arrived home. We also found this location to be an easy in/ easy out and closer than any other so we’ll be back as long as we are not disappointed in the future… Wish we could provide a photo but we were hungry and the food was good!!! PS: the...
Read moreHubby and I went there for lunch. I ordered the Schezwan Vegetables, hot, no mushrooms. Got it with mushrooms and mild. It was tasty, though.
Oh, and it comes with fried rice, but the soup is $2 extra. Hmmm! The fried rice had eggs, so I asked if I could get it without and was told it would cost extra. Hmmmm! BTW, we were the only customers there. The server was an older woman, who I think is the owner. Another oriental gentleman was sitting in a corner with his laptop and paperwork, but when I asked if he was the owner or manager, the woman told me he was a patron. Hmmmmm!! A patron with whom the chefs come out to talk and who goes into the kitchen? I think not.
When I asked the woman why they couldn't serve fried rice without eggs she was shocked at the prospect since it was pre-made, and the chef would have to make and keep ready two versions of the fried rice. OMG, what a hardship! But she promised (probably with fingers crossed behind her back) that she would convey this suggestion to the owner.
The hot and sour soup had chicken stock. When I showed her the mushrooms, she just said, oh. Oh indeed!! Only one set of customers, ordering simple 2 entrées from the limited lunch menu. How hard should it be to convey the order to the kitchen CORRECTLY??
Whatever, lol.
I'm not going back. Why don't some restaurants (especially ethnic, mom and pop, ones) understand that it is so easy to make a customer a repeat customer. All we want is good service and a correct order served. A hello and a smile wouldn't hurt...
