So Poong Kimbap — Restaurant in Commerce Charter Township

I don't take the time to write a lot of reviews but this place warranted the effort.

I happened across So Poong on Google by pure chance, looking for something else entirely. Read a few reviews and had to pop in.

There are some folks saying that it's one of the best Korean restaurants in Metro Detroit. I would go a step further and say that it's some of the best food in Metro Detroit, full stop.

It's the kind of food where you can actually feel the love that went into making it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. And somehow also bafflingly affordable.

This is the best quick lunch Korean food in Oakland County. Everything is made from scratch with care and the experience reflects that.

Small front but it's designed to go in and get your food or eat in about 15-20 minutes. The ladies who work the dinner are interstellar with their service.

Food is a very good yet small menu. Rice is perfect, seasoning on everything is had has been outstanding, and the kimchi is rockin!

Lunch combo breaks the prices of even a market that would do kimbop, at half the care and quality.

My new favorite place to eat and get take out from. The owner puts everything into her food, and it shows! the food is authentic and fresh. If you've never tried gimbap before, this would be the place to introduce someone to something new.

I brought my mother here for lunch, and she is normally very skeptical about trying new foods, and she loved it. Her words were, " I've never had Korean food before, and this is REALLY good."
