Samurai Steakhouse — Restaurant in West Bloomfield Township

I will never patronize this restaurant again! One of my favorite local Hibachi restaurants that my husband and I frequent regularly mind you. Tonight we had a terrible experience while there with our daughter. Our waiter Luka and the young manager this evening could use a training in hospitality and customer service. It started with him being very slow. Once he took our drink orders, he brought my sangria out spilling it everywhere. My first thought was that he was training so no big deal. Our cook was amazing! Food seasoned to perfection as usual. Luka gave us our bill and we noticed he charged my daughter for an adult portion and not the Kids portion like asked. When brought up, instead of him owning HIS mistake he proceeded to argue with me saying he would not make the adjustment because he did not hear me specify kids meal and ppl order their children the adult portions all the time. I requested the manager who also looked no older than 17 smh. He went ahead and adjusted the charge. My husband who always gives generous tips still planned to tip him 22% but changed his mind due to Luka’s ignorance. My husband had the cash tip on the table, however when Luka came back he simply dropped his card on the table and walked away. My husband picked up his tip changing his mind telling me "The fact that he did not apologize for not doing his due diligence while taking the order was disappointing, yet, I still planned to tip for the service we had, however, there was no pleasantry exchanged in him saying have a good night he just dropped my card on the table and walked off" While leaving my husband heard him say "Let me go get my $5 dollars" WOW! Just WOW! The entitlement! Tips are given based on service provided and this kid attitude was terrible! I came back in to tell him why he was not tipped! How are you in the business of hospitality and customer service with a piss poor attitude!? I requested our cook and gave HIM the $35 tip which was more than the 22% he would have received had he showed manners…thats just the minimum. Shame on the owner for allowing children to be in charge offering this level of service. The high school aged looking manager stood there saying nothing although he did say "Have a great night" If you want great food, amazing drinks and a nice Ambiance, i would recommend NARA in West Bloomfield on Maple & Orchard lake who also offers great customer service. Additionally, although i specified a kids meal, it is a waiter/waitress job to specify adult/kid so there is no confusion. Executive summary: Food was good, but service was awful and we will not be returning.

Arrived at about 6:20pm with a party of 2 adults and 2 children for my son's birthday. We were seated immediately at a hibachi table and there was only one other table that was just finishing up. The waiter struggled to take our drink orders and then brought the wrong drinks and not enough water for everybody. The chef came out sometime after 7pm (about 40 minutes later) and started to cook the food. We started to chatter amongst ourselves that we thought soup and salad were included. The chef overheard us and reminded the waiter to bring soup and salad out. The waiter looked surprised and then proceeded to bring out 3 salads. He went back to the kitchen and instead of bringing the missing salad, he brought 4 soups. Chef cooked the food and then the waiter never came back to offer boxes. So we got up and got our own boxes and waited for the bill. Some time later, the other family of 3 that was seated at our table seemed to get up and leave without paying. Shortly after, the waiter came towards us with our bill but then realized the other people left and he ran towards the front desk. He eventually came back and gave me my bill, only to not return again. So I got up to pay at the front desk. I informed the woman taking the payment politely that the service was terrible. Zero stars isnt an option, or that would be what I would give. Arrived at 5:30, party of 2, we were seated immediately at a hibachi grill. Waiter took 10 mins to come take our drink order. Drinks took another 10 mins to arrive at which point he took our dinner order. We were the only people seated at the table and he said the chef would be out soon. 5 minutes later the hostess sat 7 other people at our table! The waiter took another 10 mins or so to come take their drink orders, and another 15 mins to deliver their drinks and take dinner orders for the newly sat patrons. So we have now been at the table for 45 mins, still no chef. Another 15 mins goes by and he brings the additional 7 their soups, salads and appetizers. So we are now an hour in......waiting! 15 more mins goes by still no chef! We chose to leave at this point only to find out the waiter never rang in the order so the chefs didn't even know we were waiting for food. The best part when we went to the host stand to ask for our check, the waiter came up and handed us a bill for the food as well!! Sorry not paying for food we didn't get. The manager was standing right there and asked is everything ok?
