I used to love this restaurant. It used to be good. I took my daughter there this morning for breakfast. When we arrived there were two tables of two each with customers. We were told to sit anywhere that we wanted. We sat down at a booth. The server dropped off the menus and water. We then waited about 10-15 minutes before she returned to take our order. When she finally came to take our order she seemed very unhappy and unpleasant. Not friendly. We ordered a Michigan salad, an egg platter, coffee and I requested a carryout GF French toast order w/bacon. The server turned in our order and proceeded to talk with a customer that was sitting by the bar. Not once coming to check on us. We waited over 15 minutes for our food. There was a table next to us that were seated at the same time as us and their order was taken before ours and they got their food well before us. After we finally got our order, my eggs were cold. My daughter's salad was most iceberg lettuce. I honestly felt like we didn't exist in the restaurant. Being ignored wasn't a good experience. The food was overpriced and the quality of the food was subpar at best. The entire experience was below expectation. After we finished our food we waited for our carry out. Noticed that it was sitting up at the counter for several minutes before we decided to get up and pay. Our server never gave us any update on carryout order. By this time the carryout was cold. We went to the register to pay. I told the other employee that the server was terrible and not attentive. The other employee responded with "I am sorry, I wish that you would have told us". That didn't make any sense to me because I did tell her. Then our server decided to wrap our carryout and tell the other employee not to ring us up yet because she had the bill for the carryout. At that point I told the employee that we no longer wanted the carryout. It was cold and the carryout bill should have been given to us before then. I wouldn't recommend Best Omelettes. They need to hire better staff and are in need of a complete...
Read moreArrived after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13. Instead of a pleasant greeting, being we were the only ones in the restaurant, we were greeted by a server with a vacuum cleaner that stated "You know we close at 2:30." My husband wanting a Western omelette was the reason we went there. I chose not to eat. The egg portion of his omelette was 'flat and a lackluster overcooked yellow', as well as dried out around the edges, not fluffy and lightly browned like Cindy or her chef cooked them. The ground ham was horrible and the cheese was sooo extremely melted that you couldn't even tell there was cheese on it, visually or by tasting it. Considering the quality, the price was atrocious at $14.56 for just an omelette. To add insult to injury, a glass of orange juice was $3.64! The service was impersonal and poor, as seemed more concerned about closing than providing good service. I was so disgusted with the whole experience that I told the server at check out. Her response was that I received a cash discount for paying cash....like that justified the whole experience. Duh?#! I do not like that policy either. Didn't look at the coin she gave me due to my disgust, but later noticed she actually shorted me $.20. Asked for a receipt and, also later noticed, it was a partial one without the price of the omelette listed and no date. (Cut off by printer.) I figured out the price myself to list it above. This is the first time in my life of several decades that I did not leave a tip. We used to eat there several times a month when owned by Cindy. The omelettes were excellent and a unique culinary experience, so different in texture and appearance than omelettes in other restaurants. This place has definitely declined in all areas! This was the third and last time I have been in there since it...
Read moreI've been frequenting this venue since it first opened, and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, like a new summer day, which makes breakfast all the more delightful. Over the years I've observed that the wait staff turnover is very low, which means (1) it's a good working environment, (2) they know what they're doing, and (3) you get to know the staff as well--it all adds up to an establishment that one wants to return to, again and again.
On most occasions I've observed the owner working right along with her staff. That, plus the longevity of the restaurant, also says good things about the establishment.
The omelets are unique and delicious. Their whipped egg technique creates a dish that is more like a wonderful souffle than an ordinary fried egg "wrapper" for a filling. Combined with a great variety of inventive fillings and sauces, the restaurant's signature dish is not only delicious but surprisingly filling: a single-egg omelet satisfies better than anyone else's two-egg omelete. And the two and three-egg versions are gigantic!
The place does get busy on the weekends, so there may be a wait--but I think this only attests to the quality and popularity of the establishment. The food and service are worth any wait, and the cost won't break the bank. I highly recommend you try Gest Omelettes. I think you'll come back!
(And, no, I have no connection with the place--this is an unbiased, unsolicited comment by a...
