I have been looking forward to this place opening since they first put up the sign. I can say with full confidence that the wait was absolutely worth it. It is by far the best all you can eat in Concord.
Most all you can eat restaurants forsake quality for the quantities they put out, but not Sakura. The food here is amazing, even better than most regular Sushi-Hibachi restaurants that charge by the dish. I had a variety of foods during my visit, and every single one was a hit. I could see myself ordering all of them again- even things I don’t normally get were a delight on my tastebuds. I found myself ordering more than I initially intended because I couldn’t stop eating the delicious food. I highly recommend the Tempura appetizers, their soba was great, and you cannot go without trying the coconut ball dessert.
The service was the best I could ask for; everyone there was attentive and helpful and upbeat. The food takes different lengths of time to make, so I did have to get used to my orders coming out separately rather than all at once, however this is because the food is freshly prepared and they make sure to serve every item right as it is complete. Everyone was happy to explain and answer any questions I had about the menu. The friendly, diligent staff were a cherry on top of the whole experience.
I really liked the dining space- it wasn’t cramped, and yet there’s plenty of seating for parties of any size. The decorations were pleasant without being loud or distracting. Everything was clean and set up very well, matching the level of quality their food and service gave.
All in all, this is a great new addition to the Concord Mills area, and I will come back many more times. I seriously recommend it to anyone who likes Asian cuisine, it is...
Read moreOverall decent sushi spot. We are glad to have an AYCE sushi spot in Concord. Sakura sushi still has room to improve and we look forward to coming back in the future. For lunch, we really can't complain for the price and they offer a great value.
Lunch AYCE: $16.99 Dinner AYCE: $26.99
What's Good: We really enjoyed the tempura! The batter was light and delicious. Yam and shrimp tempura was definitely our favorite. Don't sleep on the buffalo wings! We were so surprised that they were delicious and ordered a whole basket! The miso soup packs a punch and is a little on the salty side, but we enjoyed it.
Things to Improve: The lunch specialty rolls were just ok. We ordered the Out of Control Roll and it was underwhelming. We felt that there wasn't a lot of options for the specialty rolls for lunch and the presentation was not very consistent. Some rolls were cut small and they looked smushed together, rather, looking like a it all came from one roll.
The most disappointing part is the nigiri. The fish is cut thin and has way too much rice. We noticed that the nigiri was quite long and not something you can easily eat in one bite. Usually, we will order nigiri over maki rolls because you eat less rice. At Sakura, that's not the case. My wife did find a pin bone in a piece of salmon nigiri after she took a bite.
Service: Overall, we were happy with the service. There were a couple of hiccups, but that's to be expected with a newly opened restaurant. Twice they got our order wrong and we had to ask for a correction. They were quick to correct the order and we got our correct order promptly. Shout-out to our waitress, Velly, for the...
Read moreWent in for lunch and thought it was going to be a steal, $16.99/ adult and I think $5.99/ kid! Sat down, waiter offered literally no assistance on the menu except "just order and can order more later". Every time we asked a question, he disappeared for 5-10 minutes. We finally ordered and apparently way more than we needed. Hard to know since he offered no guidance and he didn't say anything about it being a bit excessive
Anyway, food was good, but we had way too much (and we were glad that he forgot to deliver the last 2 things we had ordered). Anyway, time to pay and it takes us over 20 min to flag him down. Then he tells us it's $0.50/ piece of leftover sushi. That's shitty since it's not advertised, but fine. Then we get the bill and it's $26.99/ adult. I brought up that it was lunchtime as advertised and he told me it's a holiday (New Years Eve) so it's dinner price all day. Not advertised anywhere and I checked as we were leaving, too. I would have argued the extra charge except that after waiting 30 minutes to order and now 30 minutes to get a check, the kids we're beyond ready to leave.
Overall food was pretty good, service was absolutely terrible and I don't appreciate a business that will rip you off any way they can. Won't be back, do...
