I visited this Cold Stone location on Father’s Day weekend and was quickly reminded why I hadn’t been back since my last disappointing experience—despite having spoken to the owner in the past.
To start, the entire store was run by kids. Literally. Everyone behind the counter appeared to be a teenager, including the “manager,” who was also clearly underage. It felt more like a daycare than a business. I’m all for young people having jobs, but where is the adult supervision? Why is a child managing other children?
One of the boys behind the counter—his name tag said Angel—was eating food while standing over the ice cream. Completely unprofessional and unhygienic.
Then, at checkout, the girl ringing me up needed help opening the register. Once the “manager” helped, she looked at me confused and asked: “What’s 20 minus 16?” I was honestly stunned. I told her it was $4. Basic math shouldn’t be a barrier to giving customers their correct change. I believe her name was Jaydon.
I came back the next day to use a gift card, and it got worse. I told the girl what flavor I wanted, and she looked at me confused. I asked her if something was wrong or if she didn’t have that flavor, and she just looked lost.
When she finally started mixing my order (cookie dough and Oreo), she barely stirred anything together. I asked her nicely if she could break up the pieces and really mix it in, and she seemed hesitant—almost afraid. Even the girl behind her looked shocked. I had to explain again that I didn’t want full pieces of cookie dough in my ice cream—I wanted it actually mixed, not just tossed on top.
If the owner is reading this: you seriously need to reevaluate your staff. It’s unacceptable to have a full team of untrained, unsupervised teens running a food service business. The customer experience is awful, the service is disorganized, and the professionalism is nonexistent.
Until major changes are made, I won’t be...
Read moreThere are some places where giving a one star feels like I’m doing them a favor, while there are other places on the opposite spectrum - where a five star feels like a disservice and they deserve more than that. This place is definitely the latter, as I have had nothing but an amazing time here. It feels weird to write but there’s honestly nothing to criticize about this place; from the atmosphere to the food and service, this cold stone is an exemplary establishment and I’m lucky to have this place just across the street from where I work.
The service here is amazing. In my opinion it’s always the people who work that determine my rating the most, they usually determine three of the stars while other factors give the last two stars. Here the service is 4/3 stars, not just because of how friendly and helpful they are, but just how consistently nice they are. I come here pretty often and I have not had a single experience where I felt like the staff was just ok.
The ice cream here is fantastic. They are constantly bringing in new seasonal flavors and while they may not be my favorite I can always have a sample and their regulars and signature creations are delicious. I’m a big fan of apple pie a la cold stone. I haven’t tried the shakes or cakes yet but I’m eager to try next time.
Overall this place is something truly special and not good for a person like me trying to lose...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the Conroe location on Sunday, August 17th at approximately 4:00. The customer service at this establishment was pathetic!
First off, all of the employees looked and acted like they were there working as some kind of punishment. They were not friendly and barely even acknowledged the customers.
My husband placed an order which was basically a double scoop order. He asked for butter pecan with pecans and strawberry with strawberries added. They proceeded to mix all of that together. I tried to get it corrected but was ignored. They didn't even try to get him what he asked for. I don't think I have ever been treated so poorly.
Then when it was time to pay, we were ignored, again!! We should've left but that is not how we do things. When she did come to check us out, we get a "What did you get?". Really???
I would be so embarrassed if my children EVER acted like that. Needless to say, we will never visit that...
