This was our first experience ever where you have to cook your own food. We went in as a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. It was pretty late for us, and since this was the only restaurant open during that time, We want to give a try.

I get the idea of cooking your own food ourselves and experience the Korean style BBQ. I am an Indian and I am totally from a different culture and being here in the US for some couple of years, I had the privilege of tasting food from different parts of the world in a single place here in the US.

My overall verdict of the entire experience was OK and I cannot say that it was exceptional, but I would want to be close to that. Here are some of the things that can be improved on by tailoring the menu.

The ambiance of the place was like no other and it had a club-like feel to it where you enter into a dark den painted with black color on the walls that gave you more darker look to it. Maybe I think that it is more intentional for the whole theme of the restaurant. I was carrying my 2-year-old and I was trying to get in an out of the restaurant but the door was quite heavy to be easily accessible. I wonder how a wheelchair person can come into the restaurant. Because I remember I do not see any kind of switch so that the door can open automatically.

The waiters to our table were prompt and explained the whole concept of how it all works. There is already in your table bunch of sauces for you to dip in and eat your meats. Some spiced salads for you to use with your cooked meat.

We were super hungry and we just came in from a bowling game so you can imagine. We ordered some chicken and some beef meat as starting meat. The meat arrived, the waiter put in beef first on the stove before asking us which has to go on. Since we had kids, we wanted the chicken to go first so that it would cook.

I have no complaints about the taste of the food. It was excellent. But the wait time to get the food cooked was a long wait. One suggestion in improvement is that, if we can have starter plate with already cooked meat samples as an appetizer then I guess that will satisfy the wait and at the same time enjoy the experience of cooking our own food and tasting it.

Another improvement that can be done is to have the meat presentable in a way that can easier to handle and cook for restaurant visitors.

Overall, it was a different experience. But I guess this style of the restaurant will not be for me. When I go out, I want a good chef to prepare food in his style and not worry about all the time if it is...

I've been to Iron Age several times in the past few years and I've had delicious food and great service. Unfortunately, this past experience was so awful I will not return. Let's start with the malfunctioning stove top that took two to three times longer to cook the meat. It might have been a blessing that we couldn't cook the food quickly because every piece of beef and chicken I attempted to consume was stringy, chewy, tastless and full of fat. I've never had such poor quality of meat at Iron age before nor have I ever had to discreetly spit out my food into a napkin because I couldn't chew it. The rice, soup and salad remained delicious so basically I paid $40 for some sides I could have had at home for $5. Finally, the service provided was not the best either. In the past our servers at iron age have checked in with us often asking if we would like more meat and sides and providing refills as needed. Last night we did not receive refills or sides unless we could grab our servers attention in passing (I had one sweet tea refill in a two hour time period). The restaurant was not super busy but our server appeared scattered and was not very attentive. Luckily for him he received his 20% tip since we had a party of 8 and it was added to the bill. Approaching our two hour time limit the server stated that we had received our last meat order since there was only 6 minutes left. I explained that the stovetop was taking longer than usual to cook our food otherwise we would have ordered more food and finished sooner (again it was probably a good thing that we weren't able to order more food). The server responded that the restaurant knew that our particular grill didn't function well and that they couldn't figure out why. We paid our bill and left shorty after. Unfortunately, my stomach did not handle the low grade meat well and I had to make an emergency restroom stop on my way home. My husband was unable to go into work today due to an upset stomach. I would recommend that iron age fixes their grills and more importantly find a better meat...

Terrible staff, ridiculously rude and disrespectful! 2 months ago we had a terrible experience here you can check my review, after a while we said let’s give it a try, don’t some wrong people ruin our favorite korean bbq place, and we had a good time. And last night we went again and these things happened. We got our table and the server came, and i said to her we are ready to order everything, i ordered everything we need 1 protein, 2 rice, 2 cokes, 1 kimchi. She bring them and i passed her the small salt and oil plates that we won’t eat and no need to waste. She just put those 2 plates and throw them. Okay! She later asked for another protein and we want to go same. After that she abandon us over 10-15 minutes and we finished our salad, rice and sauces. And want water. We couldn’t find her and i asked someone can we get our server. Another person came and here is the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen in my life. He took all our needs and he bring them to table. And he start literally throwing them on the table one by one. And left. And some other person come and check if we are okay and i start giving my complaint. He was very very nice and assistant manager that time. I asked him how you serve this plate can you show me, and he put the plate very nicely, and i told him you can check the cameras and you will see what i mean. I explained that and he was so polite and gave a lot of apologies and served and checked us by himself. But as owners and managers you should take this action seriously. Watch the cameras, check with the people who got involved and make your staff don’t ruin your business. I will put my bill and you can see the servers which i couldn’t see any name on the bill. First serves was a white lady, and the guy was asian. And assistant manager named bill or phill, i couldn’t remember his name. Thanks to him at least we could...
