My husband and I recently stumbled upon the delightful Night and Day Café in Coronado after years of visiting the area. We were immediately captivated by the enticing dishes we spotted at the sidewalk tables, and our decision to dine there proved to be an excellent one.
Upon arrival, the friendly staff warmly welcomed us, and a gentleman promptly directed me to a counter seat, anticipating the availability of a seat next to me. His thoughtfulness continued as he asked if I would like a drink while I waited for the seat next to me to become available even bringing my husband a coffee before we had a chance to sit down.
The menu offered an array of enticing options, making our choices difficult. Ultimately, I chose the blueberry pancakes, while my husband selected the sausage biscuits and gravy with hash browns. The portions were impressively generous, and each bite of our meals was a testament to the culinary excellence of the Night and Day Café.
Throughout our meal, the service remained impeccable, and the attentiveness of the entire team made our experience all the more enjoyable. At one point, we noticed the owner stepping in to assist with the cooking, further highlighting the dedication and commitment to quality that defines this establishment.
We took the opportunity to speak with the owner (Luis) and learned that he had worked at the café for years before fulfilling his lifelong dream of purchasing it. We couldn't help but express our gratitude for the care and attention he clearly puts into his business, and it's evident that his passion for providing an exceptional dining experience shines through in every aspect of the Night and Day Café.
In short, our visit to the Night and Day Café was an absolute delight. From the warm and attentive service (Nadia) to the delicious, hearty meals and charming ambiance, every element of our time there was nothing short of outstanding. We can't recommend this gem enough and eagerly look forward to returning soon.
I hope this review will inspire others to visit and enjoy the remarkable service, delectable dishes, and warm atmosphere that make this...
Read moreThe Night and Day Café leaves me in awe. The food is seriously awesome. I love their french toast, in my opinion it is better than homemade. Their portions are generous too. The reason I'm giving this place only two stars is because the service is seriously awful. While the chef is doing so much at one time it looks like he's the flash, the servers are the opposite. They move in slow motion and they never come check on you. My coffee wasn't refilled at all and my fiance only got his refilled after stopping a server and asking for it. When you're paying $2.25 for a cup of coffee, the refills should be plentiful. In addition, I had my eggs substituted for hash browns and I didn't get my hash browns until the rest of my breakfast was gone. That's not the cook's fault either - he didn't know. The only reason I got my hash browns at all was because I told the cook - the waitress had disappeared to the back.
I feel sort of bad for writing such a bad review, because the food was great and the cook is a serious superhero, but the service is just so bad! The food gets 5 stars, the cook deserves an award, but the service ruins this place for me. It's the second time I've been with bad service. From now on, I think I'm going to be take out only...
Read moreWe've been going to Coronado Island for over 25 years. Every time we walked by this small and quaint diner it was busy. Coronado has so many eating options we never thought twice about walking away. Finally we made it point to eat here and regret not trying it 25 years ago! If we could give this 10 stars, especially for service and food we would. All the food is made on the griddle, in front of you as you sit at the small bar. Everybody who works here is sincerely friendly. They discuss the diner's history with pride.
The food is incredible. I had the biscuits and gravy. The gravy reminded me of the taste and style my grandfather made. I haven't tasted his food for almost 30 years but it blew me back to his home. The huevos rancheros are packed full of flavor and the red sauce is made by, the Nana's, every morning for the chefs. We also had the shredded beef tacos. These too reminded us of our favorite tacos in Tucson. Everything that was cooked looked amazing. We watched as regulars filed in, said hi to staff who said hello and asked if they wanted the usual. That's service!
This will now be a regular stop for. Thank you so much the...
