Idyllic setting with shaded areas and lots of things to do nearby- the library is right across the street, I spend a significant amount of time here. There is a nice gazebo, limited parking, almost 100% local visitors, very chill and mellow spot with events going on all the time on the weekends. It's well patrolled and safe, there are not a lot of homeless people on Coronado so the usual issues with nice parks are not as prevalent in Coronado- you can't smoke anyplace on the island in public so that's a huge plus and a deterrent, obviously. It's the quintessential stroller park if you have little ones, and it's clean, the facilities and well maintained. By the way, metered parking on island in most cases is 25 cents, so you will not have to pay much, if you find a spot - If you are looking for a chill spot in Coronado as a base while walking around, look no further- it's near the high school and the Performing Arts Center, so it gets busy on the surface streets during drop off and...

Awesome experience at Spreckels Park of Coronado Island! (11/10)

This Independence Day kicked off with a beautifully sung straight-up classic rendition of our "Star Spangled Banner."

Then "Ron's Garage Band" took over with a very well oiled, professional 1 hour performance -- stretched (because of very positive crowd reaction) to 2 hours -- of well drilled 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's classic rock. They kicked off their 2 hour set

Something north of 1,000 people of all ages attended -- the park was packed! At all times, 100 to 200 people were dancing on the lawn in front of the stage. The children's playground was packed with, wait for it, children and nary a screen in site!

You can always understand when people are enjoying themselves, because...

This park has been around since 1927, and while the playground equipment is at least 10-15 years old, it is well maintained. The green grass surrounding it hosts many public events throughout the year, from small family affairs to public concerts. In the center of the park is a historic gazebo that offers a central view of the green and provides a stage for events. Several trees throughout the park make larger sports pursuits impractical, but the shade provided by them is perfect for picnics. The bathroom facilities are easily accessible at the edge of the park, and it's a five minute walk to several cafe's and eating options. Whether you're a local or on vacation, this park is a...

Took a little drive today from Encinitas to Balboa park and decided to check out Coronado. I haven’t been there more than 1-2 times in 23 years of living in SoCal. Anyways decided to check out some local parks and we stopped at Spreckeles Park. It was very nice and got the feel of what it would be like to live in Coronado. Anyways the park is very nicely manicured with flowers and trees in the park and along the street. There is a huge gazebo and people jogging kids playing in a very updated playground. Lots of swings and slides. Also there were artists selling their artwork by the roadside. It felt really folky and something out of a movie. Great park to see how the other half lives :)

A great park for having a picnic, spending some time reading on the lawn, or watching children frolic in the playground. During the summer their are free (donations collected) concerts in the gazebo and attendees bring tables, chairs, food, and wine to enjoy an evening amongst community. No dogs allowed. Strats 6-7:40. *Many people start saving spots at 3:30. Artists display artwork on the edge of the park on the weekends. Clean unisex bathrooms. Parking in the neighborhood, where you walk past beautiful homes & gardens. This day, we attended the largest tented flower show in the nation.
