I just want everyone to be aware that last night I ended up getting food poisoning from the Applebee’s in Corvallis last night. I ended up with a hefty emergency room bill and a truly awful experience. I haven’t eaten out anywhere other than that restaurant in the past month or two and 30 minutes after eating is when my symptoms started. I had some tests done and was told that it was food poisoning. I called the restaurant last night to bring it to their attention. I asked for a refund or a gift card as compensation. I was very kind and the manager over the phone was also very kind and considerate for my situation. He let me know that the general manager would call me in the morning. Once that call came he accused me of lying and asked me what specific tests my doctor ordered and how I knew i had food poisoning. He then told me that it wasn’t food poisoning and tried telling me I could have the flu or the stomach bug. When I told him that I was told that I had food poisoning by medical professionals he claimed that it was not from them. I told him foods are delicate and easily contaminated. No single restaurant has no possibility of causing food poisoning because contamination can happen from someone sneezing over their shoulder, the dishes not cleaned all the way, someone breathing on the food, not changing gloves often, not washing your hands enough, it can even happen BEFORE the ingredients arrives at the restaurant. Food poisoning can be caused from simple human error and that’s why 48 million Americans suffer every year. Instead of being empathetic and understanding, Jeff the general manager accused me of lying and asked me personal questions about medical tests that were preformed during my hospital visit. I say this because it is a health violation, health hazard and can spread foodborne illnesses. On top of it all I was treated like a liar. I would stay clear of Applebee’s in general. I’ve had quite a few bad...
Read morewe had had a bad night before coming into this Applebee’s in corvallis. We started off with Sizzlers in Albany my daughter’s choice because It Was her birthday dinner And it was the worst experience that we have ever had at a Sizzlers. We didn’t even consider Applebee’s because my kids never been to One before and they are very apprehensive at trying new things. We stopped at the Applebee’s in Albany and the line and wait was too long, so we came to the one in Corvallis and our experience started off awful with the waitress Alex, she came to our table and said that her tablet wasn’t working and she’d be right back and then never came back. We sat there waiting for Assistance for 20 min and finally, I decided to get up and ask the bartender Kaitlynn if she can get us some drinks and she asked me to give her just a second while she grabbed pen and paper, and she took our drink order and then proceeded to ask us if we wanted to go ahead and give her our food order and she wrote down every single thing we said on our food order I told her what happened with the prior waitress and she told me to give her a second and she’d bring out her manager his name is Wojciech and he apologized profusely for what she did and let us know that this was her last weekend working and to us it seem like she didn’t give a care and in all the time of helping us, Kaitlyn was still doing her job, and her position was being a bartender and from the time Kaitlynn took over and became our waitress of her own volition and because of the issues, the manager gave us a discount and my daughter automatically got a dessert because it was her birthday. He also bought my son a dessert so he didn’t...
Read moreBeen a long time customer of this location. Expectations aren't very high for food quality, but I appreciate friendly service and have had historically good service at this particular location.
This evening we visited around 9 pm on a Friday night and they were not particularly busy - we were seated right away. The server took our drink & appetizer order, and when she came back to serve us our drinks we were ready to order our meals. She interrupted us and said she was going to take the order of the people next to us (who were seated after us) but she would be back in a minute to take our order.
20 minutes pass. I finally spot her a few tables down taking yet another order of a group who arrived after us.
Finally, our server arrives and asks if we are ready to order, and I told her we were ready to order 20 minutes ago but you disappeared. She got really defensive and said that she had other customers. I pointed out that all of her other customers arrived after we did & that she said she would be back in a minute...she interrupted me and said, "Honey..." Yeah, no. I told her not to call me honey and to bring us the check.
She leaves and then comes back with their electronic kiosk, plops the kiosk on the table and told me I can pay on here, and walked off.
I am very patient and empathetic towards those who work in the service industry because we have all been there. But if you are going to get defensive over a customer politely expressing that they are displeased with the pace of your service, then you are in the wrong...
