For anyone reading the "1 star reviews" don't! This Royal India Cuisine, truly has created the name into the dishes that it cooks with intense knowledge and love. Upon arrival I was confused, my Husband insisted on trying this place as for work he had been there before and that the aroma was intoxicating. When I walked in, like I stated above, confused as to where I was. Corvallis isn't exactly the higher end place one would think, for dining. However, this simply is. The stone throughout, was real. The cleanliness standard can not be outdone by any restaurant throughout my travels. The bathroom was superb even. I caught more than a glimpse of the Kitchen, which everything gleamed, not a crumb on the floor. Not a single thing that wasn't respectable. Upon arrival the owner spoke to me when walking our family as if we had been good friends. In a truly authentic manner, with utmost respect. Our server was a kind woman, who came to the table an appropriate amount of times and was within a 'needs eyesight'. We didn't go without. While we waited, the air started to match the description of what we ordered. Several orders for the butter chicken; the air tasted tender. As if I could take a bite right out of thin air and it would appear. The Spicy Vindaloo with Steak my Love had ordered, you could appreciate the spices being incorporated into the Chef's method. There are spices that have barely a scent, yet a single node. And then there are spices that embody entire cultures and cuisines. Our food came out in silver dishes, polished and pristine. The Garlic Naan was savory and intensely demolished by all of us. I felt full, as if I went home, and ate a meal made from scratch on holiday. Even though the portions were generous, but not too much. I wish I could sit there, like Garfield the Cat when he meets John for the first time. Eating that food for a lifetime. Now it takes many hours to travel to this restaurant. That will not stop us from going though, on a more so regular basis. With that being said, we felt grateful to have the privilege to experience such fine dining, rich tastes and spices that were more than slightly intoxicating. For those who appreciate culture and talent, the price...
Read moreMe and my brother went in for the first time today. Immediately we noted that it had a classy very clean looking atmosphere, very good place to bring a date or a special occasion. At first glance the menu was a little hard to navigate and had no pictures, but it was easy enough after an initial glance or two.
The waitress we had was very nice and informative, she put up with a lot of questions i had and was very pleasant and willing to help us with menu options. She addressed all our needs quickly and with a smile on her face. I really wish i remembered to get her name so i could promote her here.
We had the Dahi poori appetizer with some garlic naan bread as well... both of which were relatively affordable for appetizers at approx. 5-6 dollars each. They tasted delicious and I had no complaints, they arrived in a timely manner before our entrees and were presented well, it looked fancy!
I got the Tikka Masala with lamb at a spicy level of heat (3rd level out of 4 options) the spice for me was pleasantly spicy without any overpowering levels of heat, it added to the dish and serving it over white rice tasted so good i had no leftovers! My brother got the Lamb chop dish, and he said the flavor was very strong but good and he also finished his entrée without regret.
We were already full but wanted to try a dessert dish, so we ended up going with the Gulab jamun. It was a simple dessert, and actually was not too much to eat after all that, we each had one piece and we both loved it. It was pleasantly warm and sweet but not too sweet.
The price for 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, and 1 dessert came to about 66 bucks before tip. Which I felt was a very fair price for the service and food that we got. It's just pricy enough to no go super often, but not so expensive that i would avoid it all together, for date nights and special occasions i really really liked this place. Best Indian food I've had...
Read moreThe buffet at the newly opened Royal India restaurant in Corvallis was delicious, and had a great selection of vegetarian options, and included freshly made naan that was light and delicious!
The chai tea was classic traditional unsweetened chai spices brewed hot tea, with optional sweeteners to add in if you choose. While naan is provided upon request with the buffet, we also ordered a side of roti, and the potato stuffed naan, which was delicious, fresh, and very light.
From the buffet vegetarian options, I enjoyed the wonderful harmony of flavor profiles, from spicy to savory and sweet, including counter-clockwise from front center - cabbage and peas, spicy red curry with kidney beans that had a little heat but not too hot, savory and delicious yellow dahl, pulao basmati rice with cumin and green peas, vegetable korma that was a delightful balance of comforting creamy and very lightly sweet, saag with peas - creamed spinach/kale. So good!
The prices were very reasonable, the greeters and servers were very kind, and the restaurant was clean and beautiful, and had many large booths that could easily fit 6 people comfortably, as well as other tables that could be adjusted to suit larger groups. The buffet hours are daily from 11am to 2:30 everyday, including weekends...
