Update 1/9/2025
I have been ordering here for four years . I previously had left a 5 star review .
Today, I ordered my usual tofu pad Thai online. I requested 1 out of 5 star spicy like I have for years.
For some reason, whoever cooked today decided to put a TON of red chili flakes all over the food.
I called when I got home and realized … I asked if maybe there was an issue with the notes in the online order??
Whoever answered the phone said “well you said one star. This is Thai food. Thai food is spicy.”
It was said in the most condescending manner and he spoke to me like I was a complete idiot.
He did offer to remake it. I said yes but can it not have so much hot stuff? And he replied “ok so NO SPICE??? You have to order with no spice then.” Again, as if I was dumber than a box of rocks.
I then drove up there and just asked for my money back. I offered several times to bring the incorrect item back- he kept saying “no I trust you.”
Ok so you trust me that the food was made wrong and someone made a mistake, but I’m apparently too stupid to know that “Thai food is spicy”?
I have never been more insulted by a restaurant in my life.
I have been ordering here at least once a week for almost four years. I was a loyal customer and told many, many people to check this place out.
I guess maybe since I didn’t spend a ton of money each time, my business wasn’t wanted or appreciated.
I don’t know how or why they felt the need to talk to me like I was stupid. I have been eating Thai food since I was a kid, and I’ve always ordered 1 star and never once had it COVERED in chili flakes.
I am so disappointed and won’t ever be going back.
I would caution anyone who wants to eat here that you should expect them to talk to you like you’re dumb if they make a mistake.
Since this was close we decided we try to see if we could find a hidden gem in cottage grove. We went there with low expectation. Our low expectation was met and no hidden gem. We order over the phone not seeing any photo of dishes and we knew what we were getting ourselves into.
Services was like any other pandemic place. One worker and our food was ready when we got there to pick up.
Food was sub par to what I would consider Thai food. They have a Thai menu and American chinese menu.
We order pork egg rolls, spring rolls, beef drunken noodles, chicken pad thai and steak salad wrap.
Steak Salad wrap was no steak. It was ground beef and I believe it was supposed to be laarb dish, but who knows since they called in steak lettece wrap. It was just ground beef with what looks to be cilantro and green onion a little bit season. I give this dish a 1 out of 5
Egg rolls was not crispy but the filling was ok. Not sure if they use spring roll wrap or what kind of wrap but it look soggy. If they use better wraps it would have been better. I give egg rolls 2 out of 5.
Spring rolls was ok. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Lettece looks like it was from precut lettece bag. I give this 3.5 out of 5
Chicken pad thai..... I have never had a good padthai dish in minnesota so this was the same. Noodles was smaller rice noodles and taste was sub par. Best part of dish was crush peanuts. I give this a 2 out of 5.
Beef Drunken noodles was prolly the best dish we got. Taste like drunken noodle and beef was ok. I'll give this a 3.5 maybe 4 out of 5 cause this was really the only dish we finish.
Conclusion:
This is my first time there and base off of what I order. I might go try the Pho one day and some other dish and make another review. Well I think its Pho. There menu say rice noodle and photo looks like pho.
If you go with expectations that it's great authentic Thai food you will be disappointed. It's place to order from when you are too lazy to drive to St. Paul or Minneapolis to get...
Read moreThis was our first time ordering from Lisu's Thai Taste and might be the last. First off, the estimated wait time wad 15 minutes but it took about an hour for our order to be ready so I sat in the uncomfortable chairs for about 45 minutes. Next up, the condiments were sitting out in communal bins for anyone to touch and cough on so I had to go without duck sauce or soy sauce. After all of that we sat down at home to eat only to find that the food was a very mixed bag of quality from edible to pretty bad. The sesame chicken wasn't bad nor was the lo mein. The lettuce wraps however were the worst I have ever experienced. They were basically finely chopped chicken with some lemon grass and it looked like dog food sitting in a puddle with soggy lettuce. It didn't taste much better than it looked and the finely diced chicken was a horrible texture. When I order 4 entrees for $60 I expect it to be at least decent but this was not even that. I really was hoping for much better after reading other reviews but unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. We are still looking for a decent, genuine Thai or Chinese restaurant close by to order take out from but for now we will have to stick to other ethnic cuisine. If you want fairly edible overpriced Thai food then this is the place for you. If you are looking for good Thai tastes then I suggest...
