Iām from New York City and have been to Japan several times (I just returned last week), so I know what good matcha tastes like. Honestly, as some other reviews have said, this place just isnāt it. The matcha is overpriced and overhyped for what you get. The flavor is weak and watery, and the drinks include so many random, in my opinion incompatible, add-insāapple butter, Dubai chocolate, Biscoff, that completely mask the taste of whatās supposed to be premium matcha from āa small farm in Shizuoka, Japan.ā Matcha isnāt meant to be mixed with everything and anything; itās meant to be appreciated on its own especially if it's from a premium source. While they do offer it that way, the fact that most options are overloaded with trendy flavors suggests a lack of understanding of true matcha culture. Try finding an apple or pumpkin butter matcha drink in Japan, it'll be hard.. Also, charging over ten dollars for a small plastic cup filled mostly with ice is highway robbery and turns something that should be an everyday drink into an inaccessible luxury product. Even in NYC, matcha cafĆ©s that source from top suppliers donāt charge these prices. It feels exploitative of the Kentucky/Cincinnati market simply because theyāre one of the first matcha-only shops around. Pricing should reflect the local cost of living, not hype. This business could benefit from being more thoughtful about what itās offering, focusing on authenticity, quality, and accessibility rather than aesthetics, luxury branding, and turning matcha into a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am from Los Angeles so we have many great matcha options. Little Matcha's lattes were delicious but boy were they overpriced. This is coming from someone from an overpriced city. The difference is, you can get a decent sized matcha latte in LA for $7. At Little Matcha, that's the smaller size. Also, there are plenty of small businesses around LA but there's other factors to the price, like location.
There were a few tiny flies inside of the cafe and it was quite tight. Nothing I am not used to but there needs to be a better system to guide customers. Perhaps having a clear path to line up from the outside.
I know other people have pointed this out but having more milk options would be great. Might want to consider oat milk from Minor Figures. There's a matcha shop in Tokyo that uses it and it never overpowers the matcha itself. Califia is used a lot in LA. An almond milk option would be nice.
Again the drink itself was good and I see a bright future for this cafe. This was actually the best matcha I've had in Cincy so far, and I've tried everything from Haven Cafe, Two Seven...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām so excited to have a matcha specialized store near me finally! Iām Japanese, grew up in Japan drinking matcha then in New York and although I make my own almost everyday, Iāve been missing the matcha cafe options after moving to Cincinnati. When I first found Little Matcha they were doing pop ups only, and Iām so happy they now have a physical store. I always ask for the classic matcha, with oat milk and like 25% sweetness and itās perfect. It has a strong matcha flavor compared to other cafes around the area Iāve tried (none of them were matcha specialized stores) and I think all their different flavors and seasonal specials are a fun way for people to get to try matcha if theyāre worried about the earthy/āgrassyā flavors or bitterness of the OG matcha, or for those that prefer a sweeter drink. There really is something for everyone and I couldnāt recommend...
