Had a great first visit to this restaurant. I think I was the first customer for the day, and both the host and waiter were very friendly.
Juan, the wonderful waiter, made some good suggestions, and I went with the "Rico Dinner" lunch special. This wound up being 2 plates of delicious food. The cheese puff on the first plate with the taco was initially underwhelming, being basically just a chip and cheese, but the queso was really good. When I combined it with the fresh lettuce, it turned into a really tasty experience.
The 2nd plate were the enchiladas, refried beans, and rice. Everything was very, VERY tasty. I was surprised, to be honest; how good can an enchilada really get? My answer was "EXCELLENT." Both the cheese and beef enchiladas were wonderful, with great flavor, especially when covered with the ranchero(?) sauce that came with the chips.
Juan was very attentive, helpful, and super-friendly.
I look forward to visiting Juanita's again...!
Edit 8/11/25: I have been here a few more times, and this place has become one of my favorite restaurants ever...!
I like the salsas that are provided at the start of the meal. The roasted tomato salsa is especially good. My wife is not a big fan of Mexican cuisine, but she loves the roasted tomato salsa, and often wants to bring a quart home!
The enchiladas poblanos may be one of the best dishes I have ever had! The enchiladas rancheros are also really delicious.
I just had their fajitas, and while the beef is hit or miss on tenderness (the good ones are really good), the chicken is fanTAStic. I think I like them better than those of Los Cucos, so that's saying something. They could provide a little more guacamole and pico, given the ampunt of meat that's in the dish, but that's a minor quibble.
Heck, even the (claimed made in-house) refried beans are fantastic...!
I'm generally not a Mexican dessert fan, but their flan is super good, twice, now.
Finally, the Cadillac Margarita is consistently excellent. :)
Service is mostly super-friendly (today's great example? Señor Luis), with some merely civil, but plenty efficient, folks.
This place is...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant unfortunately today ( February 11th 2023), If I can put a -5, I would but unfortunately it is not possible. I got the " parrillada", the sausage was STILL frozen, the meat was disgusting and extremely salty, the charro beans were also salty. My wife ask for ask for a chicken and steak chichanga, but it was just a steak chimichanga and also salty, when we ask why, we just got the chicken in a plate. The service was not bat tho, Juan was doing his best and going above and beyond, but its difficult when the restaurant dosen't have good food at all. I WAS WAITING FOR MANAGEMENT TO ASK ME HOW WAS EVERYTHING, BUT EVEN THE BUSSER ASK US ABOUT THE SERVICE, BUT NO THE MANAGER. We did expressed our discomfort but no one did anything! I do not recommend this place!!!
Answer to the owner... you are completely wrong. the STEAK was not replaced by chicken, they brought us the chicken on a separate plate and that was what WE brought on a "to go" plate. I should took pictures..... They asked us twice "if everything was okay" and both times we expressed the same thing that the food was salty! THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, if I am doing a review, it is to let you know the problems you are having in your restaurant, not for you to tell me to be honest, I did it inside the restaurant already
I want to CLARIFY that at no time we never ask for any type of discount or anything free, as I told you before, my intention is to share my experience in your establishment.
Again I do not recommend...
Read moreIn my opinion and based on our experience. Read the glowing reviews and visited for dinner for the first time. Were seated right away although had to wait to have the very dirty table, floor, and seating area cleaned. Party of 4; ordered Margaritas, Trio Fajitas for 1 (Chicken/Beef/Shrimp), Poblano Chicken Enchilada, Concha Grande Chicken (in a fried tortilla shell), and Chicken Fajita Tostada. Food arrived promptly and was decent, run-of-the-mill Tex-Mex, I would say. Not sure why the reviews were so glowing! Tortilla Chips and Tomato Salsa were cold; while the Green Tomatillo(?) Salsa was warm and tasty. Toreados (blistered peppers) that were to accompany the Fajitas were charged extra, as were the fresh, diced Jalapeños - latter is available for free at most other restaurants. The Toreados were ridiculously spicy and nearly burned out tongue. Flour tortillas were rather tiny and three of them per order is not sufficient of one shares the Fajitas. Service overall was prompt yet a bit pushy, with the server telling me how much to tip! Overall, a very expensive meal for the food on offer - set us back $172, including 18% tip. The Margaritas themselves cost $60! There definitely are cheaper/better places around, not sure why this one is so special (per the reviews). Not great value for money. Hence a star...
