extremely disappointing, unfortunately.
My bf and I went here (12-12-24) for the Christmas menu. It was more expensive than I expected. In other reviews, I saw it was about 30 per person. When I called to reserve, I was told it was 50 per person because of the special menu. When we arrived, I did like the ambiance, and having a custom note on our table, a nice touch. Our server was nice and explained what each food item was. I was also glad they asked if I had any allergies. The tea was delicious, and we learned it was from a store in town called the tea rabbit, which was cool. Im glad both stores can work together. The food, however, was pretty bad. It was so painfully mediocre that after a while, nothing was too apetising. I was also extremely disappointed not to receive any scones. They did have real clotted cream, which is a plus, but without scones, it didn't have a place on the tier. The sandwiches on the bottom were classic, being cucumber sandwitch and a chicken salad sammy. Neither were bad but not good. I did, however, like the small round savory item. I was hoping to see salmon as I had seen it in other reviews, but sadly, there was none. The shrimp cocktail was tasty and fresh, and the sauce was delish. The middle tier just tasted cheap. The chese looked like the types you see in a variety pack you'd give as a gift. The cheese in the middle with the cranberries wasn't bad. Overall, just a boring tier, some cured meat or salami would have made it better. The top tier was the best out of everything. My bf liked the mince pie a lot. The trifle was my favorite thing from this tier as it was homemade. The macaroons, however, were the worst I have ever had. They stuck to my mouth and was too pepperminty. The rest of the desserts were not bad, not good. Overall, the quality for the price does not line up at all. I felt this was way overpriced and underwhelming. I had read so many reviews and was looking forward to this, but it just fell short. For 105 dollars before tip, I just expected better. Lastly, I just wanted to clarify this does not mean the server did a bad job. She was very sweet and...
Read moreWaffle’s English Tea Room in Dahlonega, Georgia, was the perfect destination for a memorable Christmas holiday outing! I took my mother and aunt for their reservation-only holiday tea, and it exceeded all our expectations. The tearoom was beautifully decorated for the season, creating a cozy and festive atmosphere that felt magical.
The price was fantastic, especially considering the high-quality food and experience. The set menu included a wonderful variety of traditional finger sandwiches, an assortment of cheeses, and a delicious selection of desserts. We especially loved the shrimp appetizer—it was absolutely amazing! We also tried both the Earl Grey tea and the maple tea, and they were delightful; the Earl Grey was a classic favorite, and the maple tea had a subtle sweetness that was perfect for the season.
The macarons were absolutely delicious, and my aunt couldn’t stop talking about them! We learned from the owner that they are a special order from a company in Savannah, GA, which made them feel even more unique and indulgent.
One small note is that the “benigns” offered on the menu are not the same as the beignets you might expect if you’ve had them in New Orleans. While they were tasty, they lacked the fluffy texture and powdered sugar coating typical of traditional beignets.
The service was impeccable—attentive and friendly—and the holiday ambiance added a special touch to the entire experience. My mother, aunt, and I left feeling relaxed, full, and grateful for such a lovely outing.
If you go, don’t forget to check out their store on the square, Crown & Bear. It’s full of charming British-inspired gifts and goodies—a wonderful way to round out the visit. I highly recommend Waffle’s English Tea Room, especially during the Christmas season, for a delightful and...
Read moreI recently visited Waffle's English Tea Room with my mother and sister, and I can't stress enough how perfect our experience was. As someone who has traveled to England, I can say that this afternoon tea experience is top-notch. I've been visiting Dahlonegah, GA for over fifteen years, and I always felt it was missing a tea room to make it a complete destination. Finally, that day has come!
The sandwiches, scones, and desserts were all fresh and homemade, and they were absolutely delicious. The tea selection was extensive but not overwhelming, and the service was exceptional. The servers were dressed in traditional English attire, adding to the authentic feel of the experience.
The decor of the tea room is beautiful and rustic, with a Victorian charm that transports you to another time. I'll definitely be looking for any excuse to come back here, and I highly recommend that you make a...
