This is a diner I would probably go back to if I were in the area. I was not impressed with the Belgian waffle. Tastes very much like a frozen waffle that wasnât heated fully AND it wasnât even warm enough to melt the butter. I was pleased with our waitress. She was very kind and considering she wasnât supposed to be waitressing â- well, that did not impede her attitude of service. I also ordered the SOS which was described as 4 biscuits and gravy with hash browns. Their math was a bit off. It was 4 halves or 2 biscuits. However, the flavor was delicious. The hash browns were also cooked to perfection: the perfect combination of crispy and potato-y. My husbandâs food order was also a bit wonky. He had a pancake and the Sawmill Breakfast which included biscuits with gravy and eggs. He ordered his eggs over medium. They didnât even make it to easy. They were left untouched. As for the atmosphere of the place - there are lots of locals who eat regularly. Itâs very old school diner. I loved it but it was quite dirty. Our table was sticky from dried syrup leftover from several diners previous. The amount of dust on the ceiling fans was quite thick. Overall - I will give this place another shot because the issues may have been due to being...
Read moreWe started with their chips and homemade salsa. Chips appeared to be store bought and served cold and was just okay. Salsa was good with just a little heat. I enjoyed the Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and green beans, which came with rolls or corn bread. My mother and husband ordered one of the Sunday lunch specials, Supreme Chopped Steak, but one order came out incorrect. The chopped steaks and veggies of okra, pinto beans, black-eyed peas and turnip greens were just average for a diner. Service was good. We were surprised when we received our check, however, to see that we were being charged more for our entrees than the menu price. We asked the server and was told that entree prices had increased by $1 each and that there was a sign at the entrance advising same. This is a BIG pet peeve of mine. Prices should be clearly marked on the menu, or a note on the menu that no one could miss, advising of a price increase. At the very least, the waiter should inform the patron of the price increase at the time the order is placed. Incidentally, we checked on our way out of the diner and there was no posted notice of a...
Read moreTurkey dinner; Food is like hospital food. Cold. Roast turkey like thick slices of deli meat, was served in a puddle of water. Bright yellow salt flavored "gravy" on top. The smell of the food coming up from the plate was slightly gross. Corn bread was crunchy (egg shells?) Diet "pepsi" tasted like generic. The drinking straw's paper covers were grimey. All the tables were dirty. Lady didnt want to clean them. Had to hunt for cleared table. My waitress was a sweet lady only good thing. What's the point of having a restaurant? Place could be great.
