Wow, I haven't given only 2 stars in a long time! But I had high expectations since a friend had recommended it to take my buddy for her birthday. We visited on a Saturday night & I called ahead and was told there was no wait. Awesome that it was true, we walked in and were immediately seated. Our server Marco was friendly. He took our drink order and brought them to us in a timely manner. The dining area is bright and lively with lots of natural yet colorful decor. We sat in a booth that has a chair on one side & a booth seat on the other side. Neither of us wanted to sit on the chair, lol - she's a dentist who sits on a stool most of the day & I'm an accountant who longs for a comfy seat, so we shared the booth side, with a view of a bunch of booths across from us, lol. There are lots of tables along the windows, but none were available tonight. My friend ordered the short rib enchiladas and I ordered a la carte - one short rib taco and one chicken enchilada. It wasn't a difficult order but our server promptly forgot it & came right back to ask me what I had ordered. I get it, we were 2 middle-aged women, looked pretty boring, and probably looked too relaxed after a spa day at the Omni - not as fun as the tables around us. But he forgot a chicken enchilada and a short rib taco almost immediately. I was absolutely saddened by it. After everyone around us had received their food, drinks, dessert & been chatted with, still no food for us. I flagged down someone & asked for our server. He made some excuse, but the food was delivered shortly and was cold, so I knew he had left it sitting on the ledge, forgetting me yet again. A woman who seemed to have some authority came by when I complained to a nearby waiter (where was our server all this time?) and she took something off our bill - I think it was a little bowl of chips & dip. I told her I was just trying to show my friend a nice time on her birthday & she took pity on us and brought a small slice of cake for her. I'm sorry but I don't accept the meager apology and I won't be recommending this place. Management should teach staff to treat everyone the same - important, because you never know who is very active on Yelp and Google and has had excellent service from your competitors. But most important - you want every customer to leave feeling they had a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreProbably the worst dining experience Iāve ever had. Started off questionable. We walked in at 9:03 for a table for 3. The receptionist frowned and said they close at 9:30. We questioned does the kitchen close? Or does do we need to be out of the restaurant by 9:30. There is a difference. She couldnāt tell us. She went to ask. She came back with the answer that the kitchen closes at 9:30 but so does the restaurant and pointed at the hours on the door. Confused as we were, someone pulled us away from her and seated us. We forgot about it and carried on with our evening.
Ordered cocktails. Appetizers & entrees. We ordered quickly as to not overstay. One person at the table ordered a 2nd round of drinks. The bar brought another round for the entire table. Typically not problem, but 2 of us had ordered doubles in the beginning so that we didnāt need to bother them and order twice. We ended up with exactly $100 extra in alcohol from that mistake by the bar that we were not going to drink. Even if itās free.. 4 extra shots on a Sunday night isnāt what we wanted. We commented to the waitress that we didnāt order the 4 extra shots. We didnāt drink them. We didnāt want them. After dinner the assistant chef/manager Paul came out and apologized for the confusion and asked if we would pay for half. We were not drinking them. We asked for them to be removed from our bill and to take them away if he wanted. He left them. We still didnāt touch them. Soon after PACO who looked to be a bar back or someone who bust tables came out and snatched them up and told us the waitress had to pay for them. We tried stop him to explain and he flipped his hand up at us and wouldnāt stop to explain. We went and asked for that same manager from before. Paul the manager brought PACO out and scolded him in front of us. They assured us the waitress wasnāt being charged by a mistake made by the bar. I donāt know. I hope she wasnāt. Terrible policy is thatās true. But it was a terrible experience handled incredibly unprofessionally. Iāve eaten here since it was Lark on the Park when the space was first built beside the park. I was actually mentally shaken after leaving this evening.
The food was great. The experience is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe took our best friend to celebrate her birthday. One of our friendās husbands frequents this place for lunch, and he said the food is good. The place was very attractive, and we thought we hit the spot. We ordered a variety of margaritas. Three of us could not believe the awful taste of the base house frozen Margarita. It tasted and smelled like it had juice from an old dish cloth that had been sitting in a dirty sink for several days. There was no way I, nor my friends, could get past the funk of the flavor. We told our waitress, and sent them back and all of us ordered something different. I ordered a mojito as I knew not to try anything with the house Margarita again.
Next thing, Miriam came to our table, and told us she would not serve us drinks, and we could go across the street to Mi Cocina. She had been serving her margaritas all day without a complaint She bragged that her margaritas are strong, and it must be us who were not accustomed to such a strong drink.
We had already ordered our food, and we did not feel that we had time to change our dinner order and make it to our event, so we stayed and had water with our dinner.
What a terrible experience! Customer service is not this restaurantās mainstay. Miriam has a right to be disappointed that we did not love her dish rag margaritas; however, her response was completely uncalled for. We, as paying customers, have a right to pay a fair price for something palatable. To deny us that opportunity was quite a surprise.
I do not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. You can get better margaritas and great food at Gloriaās, Mi Cocina, and even Desperadoās. AND better customer service!!! Miriam has a true streak...
