My experience at Velvet Taco was unfortunately far from delightful due to severe quality and safety issues that I encountered during my recent visit.

I ordered a cauliflower taco, a staple of Velvet Taco's menu, which, to my dismay, had a strange, string-like acidic taste that was quite unpalatable. This was the first red flag that raised concerns about the freshness and quality of the ingredients used.

However, what was even more alarming was the condition of the chips and guacamole that I received. The chips were undeniably stale, lacking the expected crunch and freshness. As for the guacamole, it was clear that it had been soiled. The texture and smell were off, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste.

These issues are significant as they pose a serious threat to the health and safety of customers. Food quality and safety are fundamental to any food establishment, and to have both these aspects neglected is unsettling.

When I attempted to voice my concerns and request a refund, I found the customer service to be non-responsive. Despite multiple attempts to reach out, there was no answer. This lack of communication only adds to my disappointment and frustration.

It is absolutely critical for Velvet Taco to ensure the freshness and safety of their food while maintaining an open line of communication with their customers. I genuinely hope my review serves as a wake-up call and prompts immediate action to rectify these issues.

Velvet Taco was a great spot for late night food but the service was questionable. I Placed an order online through their website around 230am on a Saturday night last year with a pickup time for 2:53am. I arrived at their outdoor pickup window expecting to grab my grub and go. Buuuuuttttt, velvet taco had other plans. I spoke with a friendly server and they told me it would be just a few minutes. 5 convos and 1.5 hours later I finally received my order.

Livid, starving, and wondering why I chose to eat here, I took my food plus a free red velvet cake that was on the house home. Even with true resentment towards this place I will admit the food I ordered was pretty good. I ordered the Nashville hot tofu, falafel, shrimp and grits, mexi-cali shrimp, and the beer battered cauliflower tacos, with red coconut curry queso and queso Blanco for sides. My favorites were definitely the falafel, beer battered cauliflower, Nashville hot tofu and the mexi-cali shrimp. The quesos were pretty good and the shrimp and grits taco was mediocre. The velvet cake was 🗑️, but it could have been that it was closing and it had been sitting all day.

Overall, I may try them out again because the food was delicious but the servers should really be upfront about wait times. Giving their clientele the ability to make an informed decision on whether they want to wait or not.

I've never really had a desire to try Velvet Taco because I'm not big into pop culture and hype and all that so I kind of avoided the place. My brother and I came in today and I was immediately impressed. They have very unique tacos. All of them have something special that sets them apart from anywhere else. Pipe or not, I'm pretty sure I found my new favorite Taqueria. But that's but the beginning of our experience here. My brother had the brisket taco and I had the salmon taco and both were amazing! I was very shocked at how much meat there is on the taco. They really stuff these things. And to make things even better, the manager, knowing it was our first time in, gave us samples of other items. Long story short, this was not only a great place to eat but it was also a great experience and I will definitely be back! I can't wait to try their chimichurri steak taco!! Oh yeah, they even have chimichurri sauce! I don't think I've ever seen that in a restaurant! Thank You Velvet Taco for existing and being amazing! Actually one more thing, they're hot sauce is the best taco hot sauce I've ever had. It's like Valentina but with an extra tartness that just blew any other hot sauce out...
