I used to get Popeyes from time to time when I lived in Virginia and Maryland. It was always delicious, juicy, and freshly prepared (piping hot). Since moving to CT over 10 years ago, I've had only had the opportunity to indulge in some Popeyes one time when I visited a town with one as there wasnt one close to where I lived. It was every bit as yummy as I remembered.
I was excited when this location opened up in Danbury, CT which isn't too far from where I live. I've now been there four times. The first time was a few months after they had opened. The staff messed up our order, but I chalked it up to being a new location.
On my second visit, the chicken had an off taste - as if the meat was well on its way to being completely spoiled and should have been tossed days earlier.
The third time, the restaurant was closed to walk-in traffic due to Covid restrictions, but the website and outgoing phone message said that the drive-thru was open. I pulled in, and when no voices came over the speaker, I drove up to the window. I could see that there were two employees inside, but neither one came to the window. I eventually beeped my car horn (just a small beep; nothing obnoxious). The employees looked my way for a moment, buhyut still did not come to the window. I beeped again, but they wouldn't even look uo again, much less come to the window. I left empty-handed.
That was well over a year ago. I reluctantly decided to try again about a week ago. Not surprisingly, I was once again disappointed. The chicken was pretty good, but the fries were served ice cold and the chicken wing was so tiny, it looked like it came from a Cornish game hen. Worst of all, was the biscuit. It was WAY overcooked with a bottom that was hard as a rock. I tried to just eat the top of it, but it tasted like it had been basted with rancid butter. It was completely inedible. At this point, it's not likely that I'll be giving this location a fifth chance to...
Read moreHorrible!!!! Would give 0 stars if possible. Why stay open if you don't have any food to serve? I arrived there at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening and they had no sandwiches, no chicken tenders, no mild chicken, no shrimp, and they were out of dipping sauces. At that point my family and I stopped asking what they had and walked out. This isn't your first day open so you know how much product you need and either you don't have it or just don't feel like cooking it. YOU'RE a chicken restaurant that doesn't have any chicken. This conglomerate can't be serious!!! We used to dine at various different locations quite frequently but after tonight this company will NOT be receiving any more of my families business!!!! Their staff didn't seem to care at all and in fact found this quite amusing especially with the manager right next to the employee assisting us tonight..... You blew...
Read moreDefinitely would NOT recommend this location. The food is good IF you actually receive it. We usually order from the app, and several times we have gotten there well within business hours to them saying they don’t have the food and can’t replace any of the items. (sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries, biscuits…. Literally nothing that’s on the menu they have) and today we literally were told to drive up and the workers sat inside with a bolted window. I called inside, no answer. I just wanted to make sure I’d be refunded for my order since they closed early. They couldn’t be deigned upon to answer. FINALLY, they opened and said I had to go through a mobile process to get refunded. Why not just say so on the speaker instead of asking us to drive up and then not answer the window? Please for your sanity and actually getting the food you ordered, go...
