Thoroughly enjoyed this location of Firebirds! My husband and I decided to try it on Saturday evening for dinner. I was introduced to this restaurant back in December and went to the Pembroke Pines location. It was a horrible experience there! I wrote the management and they invited me back and gave me a gift card. But I decided not to go back to Pembroke pines despite the offer, but try Dania instead. It's also closer to my house.
It was a busy night. The location is beautiful and in the new Dania Point area. We didn't make a reservation and waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was not an issue for us. We sat at the bar area near the door and it was a bit tight, so I wouldn't recommend that section especially if you have older guests as you will be sitting on a backless seat. Our waitress Melissa was very kind and we ordered the 3 course meal. I had low expectations after the terrible food experience I had at Pembroke Pines but the location in Dania, completely turned that around! Our salads were so big that they could have been a meal themselves and the bread was actually warm! There was a delay in the kitchen so we had quite a wait for our food, but our waitress kept checking in on us and was so very apologetic. She kept the drinks topped up as well. We were having a great time and thanks to the large amount of salad, we actually didn't mind waiting 😀. The manager James came over and apologized for the mishap in the kitchen, introduced himself, and was so friendly. He offered to upgrade our desserts and drinks and give us a discount on the bill! He just wants us to have a good time. That is outstanding customer service. Pembroke pines management can take a page out of James' book!
But when the food came...EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! The steak was seasoned and hot. My husband's salmon was delicious. Love that they serve asparagus as the vegetable and the mashed potaotes are unmatched! We had the brownie sundae and carrot cake for dessert. My only complaint was that the brownie wasn't warm. But I could live with that since every food item was absolutely scrumptious!
We had such a good experience, that we came back the next day and was served again by Melissa! She remembered us and our drink orders and really took good care of us.
I hope this will be my new go to spot because you won't regret coming here! Lovely restaurant, delicious food, wonderful staff and top...
Read moreI want to love this place. I really, really do. This area has suffered from lack of dining options for the last 20 years after everything moved west. It's a beautiful restaurant, very warm, cozy. Has a great bar and a great happy hour. When I first went there a few weeks after it opens I expected issues. New restaurants, new employees new kitchen, new managers - everybody needs to get into their groove. Having been there twice now, with visits a month apart, they still seem to be trying to find that groove. The service is very spotty, there seems to be a lot of people working there, but I could never really figure out who my server was each time. My first visit I was introduced to one server and then there was another and then another, and I do know the difference between a hostess, water person, drink order taker, server, etc. In the beginning of the meal, there was a rush to get orders, everything started great, but that it seemed that each person disappeared and I was constantly grabbing whoever walked by. Both times I have gone I have had to send back undercooked steaks. I order medium rare. And yes I know what it's supposed to look like. They have marvelous scalloped potatoes that I had on my first visit for dinner, that were not marvelous at all when I came for lunch. Potatoes were very undercooked. the first time I went when I did return my steak, all of the sides came out separately and I did not receive my entree for another 20 minutes. The menu is "interesting." The restaurant touts itself as an American seafood and steak restaurant. However, many of the meals are inspired by Mexican and Asian cuisine. Like Thai chili Philadelphia Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. The drinks are very well made. I did however, encounter an issue with some white wine that I ordered that was not properly at all. I don't want to add ice to a good glass of white wine. However, even with the missteps referenced above, management went above and beyond to rectify the experience. I encourage anyone has an issue speak with management because they seem very sincere in making improvements. I will go back and give it another shot. The appetizers and the salads are solid. I still on the quest spray perfectly cooked medium rare steak that is in this price range... In a perfect world I would go to Capital...
Read moreFamily dinner tonight! None of us have ever been here, so we decided to give it a shot. Very nice on the inside, albeit a bit dimmer than it seemed - I had to turn my phone's flashlight on low for my cousin to read the menu comfortably.
For appetizers, we shared the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and lobster queso - both were good, but the egg rolls were a tad salty.
For drinks, my mom and my cousin both ordered the signature pineapple martini, which is poured at the table, very nice. It was refreshing. I had the featured drink of the month, the billionaire, and it was great. I would recommend just doing a traditional ring of black salt over the oval. One brother had a Glenfiddich 12 over a king's cube, another brother had a Maker's Mark old fashioned, and my cousin's boyfriend had Casamigos anejo over a king's cube. My cousin's daughter ordered a Sprite and then a raspberry no-jito (mocktail), but ended up mixing it with the Sprite and enjoying it that way.
Our server, Heather, brought us some bread after, and that was pretty good too.
For entrees:
I had the monthly special of salmon and crab Oscar (meaning they finish the salmon by topping it "with an emulsified butter sauce (such as Bernaise or Hollandaise") and parmesan mashed potatoes. It was excellent and hopefully it becomes a permanent menu item. My cousin's daughter sent back her steak (overcooked) and ordered my dish as a replacement, demolishing it upon arrival.
My cousin had the lobster fondue salmon and loved it.
My mom had the snapper, swapping the pilaf for the parmesan mashed potatoes. She thought the fish could use a bit more seasoning.
Glenfiddich brother had the Cajun steak - that butter was so good.
Maker's Mark old fashioned brother had ribeye with additional shrimp (NOT the July special one, which I told him to order).
Casamigos Anejo had a ribeye that was perfectly cooked.
Glenfiddich brother ended up ordering a brownie, which came with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a tiny carafe of caramel. It was also pretty good, but we were stuffed so most of us had 1-2 small bites.
We'll certainly keep this place in rotation for...
