Buckle your seatbelts people cause this is gonna be a long review. Let's just start at the beginning... Tried to park in the parking lot, but quickly found that the parking was only available for the other restaurants. Long story short we parked in the delivery zone/chef's spot for the Health Tree restaurant. Ridiculous! We order our food and the lady never told us how many things they were actually out of. Most of us got tacos with some fried soybean product. And I ordered the southwestern bowl with chickpea instead of chicken. My mom noticed that all of the employees were standing around and not getting down to business. The lady that took our order came out and said that they were out of the "soybean thing" for the tacos and that she could substitute it for chickpeas or chicken. The lady comes back out yet again and says that the cook is Colombian and has some language barriers and that there was another option for the tacos called "beyond meat" vegetarian option. My dad thought she was saying "banh mi" and got hella confused. We ended up getting the beyond meat. We finally get our food and we notice that there are literal strips of fake meat lining our tacos. Hardly prepared, just slapped on a tortilla. Also there were multiple ingredients and sides missing for each of our "meals". The "chips" looked like they had been sitting in the bottom of my mother's swim bag and all crunched up.
I don't like bashing restaurants because my parents own a business of their own, but this was really really disappointing. We paid wayy too much for what we got and even tipped the server who had an earbud in. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking about eating or even just coming here to poop. I'm begging you, don't waste your time. Also, sorry for the extremely long diatribe, but I assume if you've made it this far you're either bored or you were seriously gonna eat...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing. Their food is to die for AND its good for you. I'm always a little nervous ordering shrimp tacos but these blew me away! They were sooooo good. The bowl was mouth watering. I wish I could eat this every day! Their smoothies are amazing and healthy. You can add boba too! The acai bowl at first glance was a little underwhelming, but after tasting it, I couldn't get enough! Best acai bowl I've had in a long time. I got the Elvis and it did not disappoint. They are great with food allergies too! My sister has a gluten, dairy, soy, and nut allergy and they were able to accommodate her perfectly! And no upset stomach afterward! The staff was so friendly and funny. We loved eating here. I will definitely go out of my way to stop by next time I am near Daytona Beach. Please open a Health Tree Cafe in Oregon we need you in Eugene! Thanks for...
Read moreIn a town not reknown for its healthy eating, this cafe is a fix for the soul. Very clean place, tasty bowl, friendly staff, nice decor, and definitely healthy.
I had the southern bowl with saute chick peas and all was fresh. My berry smoothie too, so what can i complain about? Well, i understand they operate like a food service counter more than a restaurant per se, but reusable covers would be better for those who eat in, but at least my bowl was cardboard, not plastic. They still get 5 stars, if only for being such a welcome (and much needed) haven in the culinary death valley that is Daytona.
It is not necessarily cheap, as my bowl plus smoothie still costed more than 21 dollars, but it was a good portion, so i left well fed, therefore i would say it was worth it.
Btw, they just renamed to health tree, but the sign still read health nut......
