This is long so here's the short version: Staff was friendly, food was okay but over priced, but you need to try the chocolate Delight. 3 stars for the restaurant 5 stars for the ice cream. So I came here once while delivering food and loved the theme of the place. I decided to give the place a chance, so my girlfriend and I go to have dinner. When we arrive the place is empty besides the employees. The waitresses we're pretty friendly for the most part. We sit down and order our drinks, which obviously came quick. Then we start looking at the menu and realize that the place is a bit over priced. We give it a shot nonetheless. First thing we order was mozzarella sticks(cheese sticks in the book) and while we wait I start inspecting the building. In one of the pictures you can see the roof which is filled with napkins? Maybe because of a leak or the tiles up top don't like to fit. I'm not sure of the reason. The mozzarella sticks come and they're great. Hot and the cheese is very melted so they're great. By this time I order a BLT(which is literally toast, bacon, lettuce, and tomato) which is $8 I'm not sure why? But it's $8. My girlfriend orders a Chicken Pilly that's $9(which I think is reasonable) but the comparison to the amount of food she got compared to my sandwich was a good bit more for $1. By the way the fries looked like they were cooked in old grease. We both decided this place only deserved 3 stars because of price, staff, and the feeling of the place. Now we're eating and some other people, I'm assuming regulars, come in. While we're eating theres a guy sitting at the bar(as far I can see they don't serve alcohol, but I could be wrong) and everytime I look at him he's giving me this "why are you here" look. So now we're done eating order the Chocolate Delight which in my opinion is the only thing not over priced. If you look in the pictures you can see this small Hill in a plate... Yeah that's the Chocolate Delight. This thing must be like there hail Mary or something. This thing is the ONLY reason they got 4 stars, and that ice cream brownie is definitely worth the $5.

Chose this place after reading the reviews. We arrived and weren’t sure where to park because the parking lot behind it said tow away zone and nothing mentioned it being for the restaurant. Walked in and asked if that in fact was where we should park and the manager (?) didn’t even look up and replied in a irritated manner. Sorry for bothering you but didn’t want to be towed. No booths or tables available and was told sit at the bar or wait . Ok , … we sat at the bar. Got menus waitress came over and when we started to order She rushed us waiving her pen line hurry up l, we were suppose to KNOW we had to pick our bread and cheese type etc.. with no mention of that on the menu. We ordered one scrambled egg cheese sandwich and another over easy with sausage and cheese with a side of biscuits and gravy. My dry rye toast arrived with two egg on top and some sprinkled shredded cheese no seasoning or flavor. I asked for butter. Biscuits and gravy tasted like both came from a can with very very little sausage. The coffee tasted burnt . After dropping $30 I was very disappointed.

We drove down to Daytona Beach for a day and began looking for a lunch spot to come by. Starlite Diner looked to get great reviews so we decided to come here. Came at around 1 PM on a Sunday and they were pretty busy but we managed to snag a table right away for 3. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive to us. The overall vibe of the place is very vintage though in some spots it’s kind of showing its age (there was a small roof leak right near our table which occasionally dripped water) but not too big of a deal at this stage. I got the Three Texas French Toast topped with whipped cream as my meal. It did take a little while to get our food but I wasn’t complaining that much. Overall, it was pretty good! The toast was cooked perfectly and the syrup added a great touch along with the whipped cream. Overall, if you’re staying in Daytona Beach and hunting for a local diner vibe, Starlite is a pretty good place to go! I’ll be back.

The level of racism and disrespect that I experienced at this place was unbelievable. I can tell that a culture of rudeness and prejudice is taking this place under. The waitress refused to serve me (as a black man) because my wife was running 5 minutes late, then proceeded to serve the white family who was seated after me. I was nothing but courteous and respectful and I will never forget how rude this waitress was and the way she looked and spoke to me with such a deeply disrespectful tone…I could instantly tell that I was not wanted there at all simply because of the color of my skin….its as if she wanted me to know that I was not welcome in her section at all and would much rather serve a white family that was waiting at the door. Apparently racism is VERY much alive at this place and I was compelled to leave immediately so me and my wife could eat somewhere that accepts black people. I initially placed my name on the list to be sat and waited patiently. My wife was running just 5 minutes behind because of a family issue with the kids, when the hostess called my name and I was seated…..the waitress then proceeded to tell me she couldn’t serve me unless everyone was seated at the table…again my wife is just 5 minutes behind…I even asked if I could order our drinks and the waitress very rudely refused to serve me drinks and insisted to tell me that my wife needs to hurry up. I immediately left the restaurant after that and me and my wife found another place to eat. I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing and I am relieved my wife wasn’t there to witness just how vile this waitress was to me. I was very...
