It really pains me to write a review for my favorite childhood restaurant that has such a sullen tone. I have been eating at Noodle since the mid-2000s, and have enjoyed just about all of my years from childhood to adulthood patronizing this business with family and friends. They have absolutely out of this world Asian-fusion cuisine (to die for fried rice!) and great service. I've spent birthdays, special holidays such as Valentine's day here, even lost a tooth here as a child. I no longer live in Georgia, but always come to noodle when visiting. I came in today and was absolutely APPALLED at the condition of this restaurant.
Now, during the pandemic they were doing patio service only, the dining room was closed and understandably so. It is my understanding there was a fire as well. The dining room is now open, but you basically have to eat your food takeout style in there. There's no one in there besides a cook and a front of house associate, who isn't very friendly and seems to look down on every patron that walks in, very blasé demeanor-- not very Decatur. One of the tables was littered with plasticware, napkins, plastic straws for us to grab at our convenience.
The air felt so thick in there, and we felt like we weren't welcome in an environment that is usually quite welcoming and cozy. The food was okay, I always order the same thing. Tasted a bit like food court food, which is so shocking when Noodle has always had exceptional quality dishes. I am not sure if the owner is cutting back on costs or what, but its messy inside, boxes piled high and chairs strewn about with cheap looking signs that read 'Please throw your trash away when done' on them. It's asinine. What's strange is, we always preferred this location over Midtown's, but now it looks like they're on the same level. Food quality sucks, atmosphere sucks, and service is sloppy. I'll be upset if this place closes, but I really hope the owner sees this as a wake up call. I think I speak for all of us when I say, we all want the old...
Read moreI was in downtown Decatur for an appointment and wanted something to eat. I was just looking around on google maps and Noodle came up. I was planning to dine-in but when I arrived they were only doing takeout at this time. I ordered regardless because they had some outdoor seating available. I got vegetable spring rolls and chicken lo mein. Just wanted something classic. Everything was done pretty quickly within 15 minutes. Noodle, seems to be very popular on doordash and other apps because they were a lot of people picking up orders and stuff. My overall opinion of the food was underwhelming. The lo mein noodles were not very flavorful and the chicken were big tough cuts of white meat. The vegetables weren’t really uniform throughout and eating it out of a to go container was difficult. A plus is that you do get a lot of noodles probably enough for three people but still were very average. The spring rolls were the generic rolls that you could find at any asian restaurant. I spent around 17 dollars in total and personally it wasn’t worth that price. If it was less expensive than maybe my view would be a little better but I could pay the same at any other place and get...
Read moreIt’s a shame but noodle has really suffered and has not recovered post Covid. Their decision not to reopen the dining room is a negative in so many ways but mainly that it impacts the quality of the food. Eating out of nonsustainable plastic and Styrofoam on their porch was a main detraction. Since you get all your food at once, that means you end up eating something cold. And the sheer amount of waste with everybody eating out of takeout containers makes us a restaurant I will not be coming back to you. Re-open your doors and become a regular restaurant again. Tonight we had sushi, fried wontons, and a build your own bowl. The sushi was very good. If this is been my first visit to noodles, it would’ve been my last and may well be my last. The wontons were tough and rubbery and of course cold. The build your bowl with peanut sauce had no flavor. What a disappointment.
Finally I can’t say enough about the sheer amount of plastic and Styrofoam generated by not having the dining room open. For a city of Decatur that considers itself to be green, this is one of the most ungreen...
