The only positive thing I can say about my visit is that now I know never to go here again. I came in on a Saturday afternoon with my family and some friends. We were looking for a Saturday late breakfast or lunch place and figured that would give us a place to try. Boy are we sorry that we did!
We proceeded to order a few basic things: bacon omelette, toasted everything bagel with nova spread, and lox on an everything bagel with cream cheese. All things that a standard deli should be able to make without any issues. The place wasn’t too busy. After sitting down at one of the tables, the omelette came out after about 10 minutes, with an everything bagel that was supposed to be toasted but wasn’t. After waiting an additional 15 minutes I asked how much longer the other two parts to my order would be, and I was met by a very curt response of, “we’re working on it, we’re working on it. It’ll be out when it’s done.” So I quietly waited another 10 minutes and when I asked for an update and told him that I have been waiting already for about 30 minutes, I was given a very short response of, “we’re short staffed” while the person was walking away. Looking at other reviews, apparently that seems to be a common theme with reviewer’s complaints that I wish I would’ve read before I ordered. Meanwhile, people that arrived after us and ordered were getting their food. Not sure what kind of disorganized system this place has when it comes to preparing food, but it leaves a lot of room for improvement to say the least.
Finally, after waiting over 40 minutes I had had enough and went to the counter and asked about my order and said that we’ve been waiting over 40 minutes. As it turns out, they had not even started my order, and I got more responses from the people behind the counter of how busy they are, and that they ran out of bagels. When I mentioned about other people getting food before us that arrived after us, one of the people behind the counter got really defensive and asked me to point out who they were and and then denied that those people got there after us. At this point, I was so frustrated that I asked for my food to go. I was going to ask for my money back, but figured that would probably take even longer than simply making a couple of bagels.
The taste of the food was just OK. The everything bagels were really tough and did not have a lot of seasonings on them. Overall, this was a horrible experience for some just OK food, and I will never be going back to this store or their...
Read moreBronx Bagels and Deli is located on Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach. Owner Michael Friedman opened it about 5 years ago. Friedman moved to South Florida from the Bronx and wanted to bring with him recipes from his hometown and his love of the Yankees. You can find Bronx Bagels and Deli across the street from Quiet Waters Park. There is a small but adequate parking lot in front of the building. Their motto is "Like you used to eat in New York." As a Jersey girl, count me all in!
This is a no frills deli with a Yankees baseball theme on the dining wall. Everything is made in house. There are tables and chairs if you want to eat in or they will pack it to go. You order at the counter from a reasonably priced and mouth watering menu that includes omelets, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, gourmet wraps named for the boroughs of New York, burgers, soups, smoked fish platters, and freshly baked goods, New York style boiled and baked bagels and bialys. The corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, and brisket are all popular choices. Once your food is ready they bring it out to you if you are sitting in the dining area. They offer all day breakfast and are open Monday-Saturday 6:30am-3pm and Sunday 7am-3pm. From the number of people lined up to order I could tell that this was going to be good.
It was hard to narrow down the choices from a menu filled with favorites but I finally decided on the Mick from the Bronx Bomber's section of the menu. It was named in honor of famous Yankee center fielder, Mickey Mantle and features fresh sliced corned beef with melted swiss and sauerkraut on grilled rye. The sandwich was delicious and so large that I can only finish half. It was served with a side of hot and crispy fries. I washed it all down with my favorite Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. On the way out I had to take to go some of their excellent bagels and slice of their heavenly crumb cake that tasted just like home. I devoured every crumb.
The service was so friendly and efficient, especially Ray! In addition the food is delicious and a good value. When you want an authentic New York-style breakfast or lunch, this is...
Read moreWho doesn't love a chewy, delectable carb in the shape of a donut smothered in fresh blended cream cheese? I for one do and thats why I headed over to Bronx Bagels to check them out after they finally opened.
Walking in, you find a cute market/diner style affair. Theres minimal signage up for where you order so just head to any area on the left. The cases hold a variety of bialys, bagels, cream cheese, meats and pasta salads. The menu is simple. I ordered up an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. I asked what a flagel was and the response I got was " it's just a flat bagel. People think they are less calories but they are not." An odd response to a customer. To me that meant they just squish them flat instead of making then like a thinner bagel. I won't be ordering that!
This is a table service place, but again, you won't know that till you order. The cashier was more polite and friendly than the original orderer. The prices were really good and the wait minimal for a toasted bagel and cream cheese.
Upon recieving my EVERYTHING bagel, I was disappointed to see that it was completely naked. No toppings. My friend eating the same thing recieved a fully loaded everything bagel. I ended up trading half mine for hers just to sample the flavor. It was pretty good! Chewy and hot with a fresh flavor. The veggie cream cheese was good, creamy with plenty of carrorts, squash and scallions. It came on the side for you to top yourself.
They also sell bags of day old bagels and bread cubes which was nice. Overall, a nice place to stop but don't expect consistency with the bagels toppings. The taste is...
