My wife and I have been coming here since it was Dayou market. While we had noticed some less than desirable changes since the transition to Enson, I.e. staff much less friendly, overall appearance of market less clean, discontinued loyalty program, we continued to shop there until what was our experience today.
We went to Enson and had already filled our cart with several items when we kept noticing someone in the direction of the cash registers coughing deeply and loudly every few seconds, this was so bad you could hear this regardless of where you were in the store. We eventually noticed it was the cashier, and to our horror he was, without making any attempt to cover his face or look away, coughing all over his workspace, the groceries he was scanning and bagging and customers! He made ZERO attempt to look away or cover his mouth and about every 10 seconds he would cough on the groceries he was ringing up, the point of sale system, and even in the direction of the customers! We noticed a few rounds of customers who seemed quite put off by this but nothing was said.
We actually debated what to do, as we drove from northern Ky to shop there and had a cart full of items, but this man would not stop coughing all over groceries, his workspace and customers. We weren’t even sure if he was just nasty, or doing this on purpose as his total disregard for any customer seemed absurd. We eventually decided to put everything back and go to a different Asian grocery, which wasn’t easy since it was getting late and most places were closing within an hour(and again we had driven nearly 45 miles to shop here), it didn’t matter as this was unacceptable and disgusting.
I’m a local guide on Google and have reviewed more places than I can count and I’ve never left a review like this, but this was a grotesque situation that absolutely must be addressed. This was either an incredibly foul person or they were doing this intentionally. At the time it didn’t matter, my partner and I didn’t want to be subjected to it and shouldn’t have to, and as a result I doubt we’ll be back.
I assume there are cameras in this grocery, and if Enson would like to address the matter and I hope they do, it was 9/1 around 7pm and the employee was an asian man in a blue shirt with glasses and the only cashier at the time, the footage should...
Read moreDo they sell expiring products? I don't know, I didn't notice. I saw some comments from other customers about non-refundable purchases in Chinese stores, but this is a common practice that I'm used to. Just be aware of the store's policies before making any purchases and make sure You check exp date. I'm hopeful that Asian markets will become more localized to US culture in the future.
I stumbled upon this shop by chance and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of Asian foods! The shop also has a small Russian section, but it's mostly empty.
The selection of sweets was particularly impressive.
While I can't comment on the food prices, as I don't really know, the alcohol prices were on par with other shops in the US!
The shop is pretty clean and easily accessible, but the tall walls make it feel a bit cramped and not particularly cozy or comfortable.Too high of a ceiling in a compact room will create a "pencil box effect" and have a depressing impact. It would be great if they could build a second storey for more shopping or storage space.
Overall, if you're in the area and looking for a diverse selection of Asian foods and sweets, this shop is definitely worth...
Read moreEnson Market is a well-regarded Asian grocery store in Cincinnati, particularly noted for its extensive selection and clean environment. Located on Mason Montgomery Road, it stands out for its variety of fresh vegetables, meats, and Asian specialty items. The store is spacious and well-organized, making it easy for shoppers to find what they need.
Customers appreciate the diverse range of products, from exotic snacks to fresh seafood. Some reviewers also highlight the availability of unique items like different flavors of Lay's chips that aren't commonly found in regular grocery stores. Prices are generally considered fair, especially given the variety and quality of products.
However, some shoppers have noted that the store can have a strong odor upon entry, which might be off-putting to some. Despite this, many people travel from neighboring areas just to shop here, which speaks to the store's strong reputation in the community.
Overall, Enson Market is a go-to destination for those looking to explore a wide range of Asian groceries and specialty items in a clean and well-maintained...
