My family and I have been going to Tony's for at least a couple decades now and we have never been so appalled with the quality of food.
This was the evening of Friday, June 28th. Janet was our server and she is always fantastic, she did absolutely the best job she could given our situation. This review isn't about her, shes always great.
We got a couple pizzas and two pasta dishes for the 6 of us. The pasta dishes initially looked great and the two pizzas were definitely not how they are normally cooked. They were undercooked and had hardly any sauce on it, it was like eating cheesy bread. One of the pizzas, we were okay with, but the cheese pizza we got literally looked and tasted like there was no sauce on it. I rarely hate to complain about food because I respect the hard work and time it takes to run a successful restaurant. It was just unsatisfactory. We requested to have the cook remake our pizza and his response was, "that's how it comes." He continued to tell Janet, give them sauce on the side or I can put some sauce on the top. I don't know entirely what was said, this is just what we were relayed.
I proceeded to order something else, so I ordered a baked ziti, wasn't a big deal. When that dish came out, it didn't look anything like the other two pasta dishes. The mozzarella on the top wasn't baked as if the cook didn't even put it in the oven to bake and just put the mozzarella on top to let the pasta melt it. It didn't have that cooked/charred look when you order a baked dish.
Janet came over and I just told her, "I'll just eat at home because I have never been so disappointed with the cook." She did the best she could to accommodate us because we are long friends and we try to always sit in her section because we've known her for so long.
Needless to say, we couldn't believe it. We felt the cook cooked our second dish poorly out of spite, but that is another conversation for another time.
They are closing for a matter of weeks so it gives us a reason not to go back for a while, but we just couldn't believe it. We live in New Smyrna close to 30 miles away and we have no problem making the drive because Tony's is one of our favorite restaurants, but today the cook completely messed up and we hope when we come back he is not...
Read moreWe asked for our pizzas to be cooked lightly and both pizzas came back slightly overcooked the dough was hard, the pizzas were very disappointing , when I mentioned it to the waitress you just said okay didn't seem to really care that we weren't happy with the pizzas , when we asked for a to-go cup they said they didn't have any, when I asked for a receipt they said they don't give any and then finally our waitress said to give him the main receipt. This is not the first bad experience I had at this restaurant the first time we were there we ask them for a large cheese pizza and they brought us a pizza with abundance of different toppings on it and we said that's not what we ordered and they changed it but someone else at the table paid the bill and when we looked at the bill after we left we noticed they charged us for that very expensive pizza instead of a plain cheese pizza and and we also notice that on the receipt the first time had garlic knots they said they had a problem with their register , but we were please with the food at that time so we decided to go back again the second time was good no problems but this third time that we went back was very disappointing, on the receipt Garlic Knot still showed up but we felt that was in place of a drink that someone got so we weren't concerned about that, not sure if we want to return back to this restaurant again we'll have to wait and see, I feel it will be a hit or miss at this restaurant the next time. I would not say not to go to this restaurant but definitely check your receipt and definitely be firm on how you want your...
Read moreSince this place had such great reviews, my husband and I were eager to try it. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in a restaurant. We stopped in at 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon. There were a few tables, but the place was not what I would call busy. Our table was sticky. There was a rag sitting on the table next tours, so grabbed it and wiped the table. There was a thick layer of grease and dust on the ceiling fans overhead, and the wine bottle decorations on the wall just above our table had a thick layer of dust as well. When a restaurant is that dirty in the front, I shudder to think what the kitchen looks like.
We waited for 10 minutes before we could even get water. We ordered a Bruschetta Pizza, which is supposed to have olive oil, garlic basil, tomatoes, spinach, onions, mozzarella cheese, and feta cheese. after nearly 30 minutes we finally got the pizza. I don't think there was any olive oil, garlic, or basil on the pizza, and it was very light on cheese. The tomatoes and spinach were flavorless, and the crust was hard as a rock. It was by far the worst pizza I've ever had.
We had to ask for silverware and napkins, and the waitress didn't return to ask if the food was okay for over 15 minutes. When I told her it was terribly bland, she said she was sorry to hear that and told me to pay at the counter. Then she gave me her employee discount, which was about 10%, to make up for the long wait and bad food. She never even acted like she might tell someone we were unhappy with our food, even though we had seen the owner on the premises.
We will not...
