You have to go see Shelley and Troy from Maka Farm's and get these Mushrooms .. you will get hydroponically grown - rarely found Oyster Mushrooms, Lions Mane Mushrooms and a few other, hard to find - less recognized 🍄's .. but, none the less - they are all flipping fantastic!! ALL of the mushrooms they sell are hand picked just 1 1/2 hours before they are sold. These are the cleanest, freshest mushrooms that can be found in the Tri County area .. I have never actually found the varieties of mushrooms they offer anywhere in the Central Florida in my 30 years here .. no need to wash these - they're grown without soil, yet they are 100% organic. You absolutely have to try them, they taste absolutely fabulous in ANY dish. You will be surprised at the sizes and shapes of these specific varieties of mushrooms .. they are like no other mushroom in regard to their taste and texture. A lifelong friend of mine, Wyatt is a trained chef and he prepared a meal for a group of our mutual friends in honor of my birthday. He knows I love seafood so he asked me to pick the protein for the entree and I chose scallops.Wyatt prepared my favorite dish; Scallops over Angel Hair Pasta with White Wine Butter. After we all had finished the meal, Wyatt asked everyone what we thought of the scallops .. everyone agreed that they were seared perfectly and very moist and tender .. a few of us even commented on how fresh they were. Wyatt then told us that he made one change to the dish - he substituted "King Oyster" Mushroom stems in place of the scallops!!! We were "BLOWN AWAY"!! Not one of us spotted the difference or could tell by taste, texture or appearance. Wyatt said all he had done was cut the stems into segments, the thickness of a batch of nice sized scallops; he seared the stems in vegetable broth, white wine, garlic and diced shallots before he added the mushrooms to the pasta and remaining ingredients!! It was absolutely amazing!! I will definitely prepare this dish as Wyatt had, probably many, many times over. He said that there are so many recipes that you can use these very mushrooms from Maka Farm's in; in the exact same manner as he had. He added that sometimes the mushrooms make the dish taste even better than the original and, that many vegan dishes are made this way and requested as such, as preferred by his customers. These mushroom are very versatile and can be used in so many dishes that will be enhanced by their flavor. These are the type of mushrooms that are used by locally sourced, farm to table restaurants ... in and about our local area as well. These are a RARE FIND and a real treat!! You don't spend as much on Makas' "specialty" mushrooms as you pay for regular mushrooms at your supermarket. Be sure to stop by Maka Farm's @ the Artisan Alley Farmer's Market on Friday evenings and say "hi" to Shelley and Troy! Be sure to pick up some fresh mushrooms and you'll thrilled that you did!! No other 🍄 will ever compare once you try Makas' mushrooms!! Maka will accept advance orders by request; to assure larger quantities and freshness for any of your...

Ok soooo i love this whole idea of ever friday night 6-9 is an awesome Farmers Market. People are set up all through the street selling their handmade goods from jewelry, soaps, art, home decor, plants etc. Theres a few vendors selling food and lets not forget the AWESOME Midnight sunic ice cream truck. They are AMAZING. They make homemade ice cream sandwiches that are to die for. Not gonna lie. My (sometimes) friday trip out there is for my ice cream and this cute store called the Nest. So next time your out in that area having dinner on a friday night stop by after and support local vendors and have a ice cream sandwich while you walk through. Its...

Just a great way to spend Friday evening in Deland. A little bit of everything, farm products, homemade foods, jewelry, crafts, and the friendliest people ever. Park at the north end of town and walk the few blocks to Georgia and putter around the Alley. On your way back to your car you will find supper if you didn't eat in the alley, or a drink. This is as close to a European evening stroll downtown as you will...

Local flavor and color on display with tastes, scents and scenes to delight the senses. Spray paint artists are lighting up beside reclaimed wood Craftsmen. Gem artists and Goldsmiths, bakers and farmers, soap makers and even balloon artists all await you in Artisan Alley. Make sure you bring enough cash though many accept major cards. Check out the Summer Rolls if you get peckish.
