I feel its only fair to preface this review with the understanding that I have worked in the service industry for over 6 years. I started by working as a busser, and have done everything from cooking in the back to managing front of house as well as back of house. In this instance I feel it is fair to say that I have had my fair share of busy and stressful evenings. Its part of the industry, it was one of the main reasons I no longer work in it. But never in my time working front of house had I ever snapped on a customer and verbally degraded them in front of the whole restaurant. This was the evening we experienced on 1/2/2024. The blond waitress to her credit was dealing with a lot, it seemed that she was the only one working that shift and there was a decent amount of people to deal with. That part is understandable, what isn't acceptable is refusing to split a check for a group and only allowing us to pay all together or split evenly. Then proceeding to rush us out of the restaurant saying "time to go" after being dissatisfied with the tip that was left. What is also unacceptable is proceeding to shout to the whole restaurant how "if we couldn't afford to treat our servers that we shouldn't go out". Perhaps if the check was split we may have been more capable of tipping out a greater amount as each of us would have been responsible rather than just one person. From what our group reported the food was adequate and prompt. The atmosphere was fine other than the conniption fit that was put on display. It was a decent evening otherwise. We will not be returning after such an experience was had as it was entirely inappropriate, but I'm sure after either a change of staff or a quick course on customer service everything should be...
Read moreI was trying to hire a food truck for a wedding reception at Rancho Del Rio on the Colorado river. In my quest searching the halls of the intraweb, I stumbled upon this place. After reading the reviews and talking with the owner of the operation I decided to hire them without even tasting anything. In our conversation he explained to me that the truck couldn't make the trip up from the front range into the remote mountain location but he would gladly do the event anyhow. This was without a doubt one of the easiest vendors I worked with while my wife and I were planning the weekend affair. Luckily for me the food didn't disappoint either. Not only did my vegan wife and I love everything he served, all of our friends also raved about how good everything was. This was also exacerbated by the fact that our summer solstice wedding weather was cold, rainy, and blessed us with a dusting of snow. Simply put, Chuey Fu's over delivered. They efficiently served 100 guests 3 different kinds of tacos, plantains, salad, chips, salsa, guacamole and edamame, all while standing under a 10'x10' tent in stormy weather. They exemplified the meaning of service with smiles and great attitudes. They also helped us keep our wedding reception guests happy, warm and full of delicious flavors from their tacos and sides that Joe helped me choose. When they were done serving everyone they then left all the extra food they brought up; which some late night party goers attacked in the wee hours of the night long after my wife and I left the scene. Long story short, if you like Asian fusion this place serves the goods and the values the ownership instills in the staff will also impress you with their...
Read moreI’ll start off by saying that I have been a frequent customer of this place for over two years. I’ve probably been here 25 or so times, but the last few times have kind of sucked, particularly tonight. The place was not busy (15 or so people). For starters, it took us almost 10 minutes just to get menus and water outside even though 80% of the customers in the restaurant were outside near us. Our waitress then took another 10-15 minutes just to take our order. We decided to order everything at once because we didn’t know when she would even come back. It took 10-15 minutes to get 4 drinks (marg sucked, but rest were good). We ordered nachos as an app, but received it with the rest of our food and they were cold and much smaller than normal. Our server never asked if we wanted a second round of drinks, the kitchen staff delivered our food (generally this is fine, but that’s not their job especially if it’s not a busy night), and even sweared while doing so (I swear a lot, just not at work.
I know this place is categorized as a “joint”, but I’ve had so many good nights here and the past few have just been disappointing. I’m not expecting to be waited on like a nice restaurant, but I shouldn’t have to find the server myself to order a second beer when we have entrees and apps. The saving grace was that the drinks and the entrees were as great as usual (except...
