There is the bakery and then there is the cookery. BAKERY (5 STARS!!) I only got an old fashion donut from the bakery, but OMG it was the best I've ever had. I was so sad I couldn't go back for more!

On the COOKERY- we arrived when it was obviously busy and the waitress who sat us was anything but friendly. We asked to sit outside (inside was pretty noisy) and were ignored, which wasn't too suprising as we were the only ones outside. The waitress came back after nearly 10 minutes and told us that is what we get for sitting outside. I have worked in resturants myself (over 10 years) - and the tone in which she told us that totally ruined my experience. If we had been asked to sit inside or told we would have to wait because they were short staffed if we sat outside, we'd have been fine with that. I would have left - but we were short on time. We ordered and someone else brought our coffee. My brother got the cornbread and eggs which was amazing, but I got the green chile bowl and it was super oily/greasy. Lots of cheese, which was yum, but the potatoes were really undercooked and soft so I was a bit disappointed. The waitress did come around (the rush had obviously subsided) but I wasn't thrilled with how we were treated for asking to sit outside which was quieter. My review if for the Cookery, the...

American take on a French bakery and cafe. Good selection of pastries, sweet tarts, pseudo cakes, and a few cookie like pastries. Sadly, I was there later in the afternoon and unable to sample any of their croissants which is my standard reference point for bakery reviews (e.g., pan au chocolat). The vanilla creme puff with ganache topping was excellent even at the late mid afternoon hour I ordered. Staff was friendly and helpful. Really nowhere to sit inside our outside. Clean and tidy appearance all around.

The hot chocolate I ordered was a bit of a comedy. They only do 8 and 12oz cups and do not have any whip cream. I asked for whole milk and was told "ok, no problem." When I was paying I asked the cashier what type of chocolate they make it with to which he responded "chocolate milk, you'll love it!" Really, I thought he was joking until he dropped the line about loving it with all seriousness. The second I tasted it I knew it was not whole milk - 1% or worse skim. One could barely make out it had any chocolate in it (read, boxed chocolate milk). I get that hot chocolate is a fringe cafe item for them. But, if your going to put it on the menu you might as well do it right and ensure staff knows what they...

I’ve always loved this place, but unfortunately, I had a really frustrating experience today. My friend and I came to study earlier in the afternoon, enjoying some coffee and treats. After a while, we took a break and went for a quick run around Wash Park, then returned to finish a few more practice problems before Devils Food closed. Since it was getting late (around 4:15-4:30), neither of us felt like ordering another coffee.

After sitting for a bit, the barista approached and asked if we were going to order anything. We politely explained that we weren’t planning to. To our surprise, his response was, "Well, we’re trying to run a business here. You can take a seat outside." I was really disappointed, especially since the cafe was still open for another 30 minutes, and we had already spent a significant amount of money there earlier that day.

While I understand that businesses have to make a profit, the way this situation was handled felt unprofessional and discouraging. It left me feeling uncomfortable, and I’m honestly not sure I’ll be returning. It’s a shame, because I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere here, but this experience has really changed my...

This place had a line out the door when I went on mid-day on a Saturday. The name of the bakery suggests that the offerings are decadent in regards to sugar. I patiently waited in line about 15 minutes and ordered a frosted sugar cookie and a buckeye with a chai latte and sat at the counter to enjoy them. My only complaint was a bit too much salt in the buckeye compared to what I am used to. (Probably salted peanut butter, which some might like, but I prefer not to taste salt). But I enjoyed it all so much that it still deserves five stars. Perfect place to treat yourself to a sweet or pick something out for someone as a gift. Cash register pay station is fun!

Excellent bakery on a shopping block in an older neighborhood. Very good espresso based drinks, pastries and pies. The cherry raspberry strudel is particularly good. The sweetness of the crust is a nice contrast to the tart cherry/raspberry filling and pairs well with the latte. Service was great. It was friendly, prompt and efficient. The space is in an interesting older building with both tables and counter space for seating. They do have Wi-Fi available. There is a view into the back area where employees are busy baking. The on street parking is limited and can fill up during peak times.
