I contacted the manager of Fox and Hen several times by email and phone over the past month on this issue and the manager has yet to contact me back. I specifically asked for the manager to contact me about this privately rather than taking the Google review route because the food at Fox and Hen is fantastic, and I believed that this was likely a coaching issue with their hostess. However, given that the manager will not contact me back about this incident, I believe there is a broader issue with the staff at this establishment, and am posting this review publicly.
I am extremely concerned with how my 10 week old infant was treated on Saturday January 13 at Fox and Hen. My party of 7 had a 10am reservation for a special occasion, which we arrived promptly for. We were informed that our table was not yet ready. I stepped to the side while holding my 10 week old infant in the lobby area, where approximately 5 other people were also standing. The hostess told me it was a fire hazard to be there and I needed to go outside until my table was ready. I explained that it was -3F outside and it was dangerous for my infant to be outside for more than a minute or two. One of our two tables was available and I asked if myself and the baby could sit there instead of outside - she said it was against policy. I asked if she could reserve the next lobby standing area for me and the baby- no. I asked if she could reserve the next bar seat available for me and the baby - no. She was frankly quite rude throughout the entire interaction and was defensive rather than apologetic when I continued to express concern about the -3F temperature for a 10 week old baby. I would have happily sat in the employee break room or even a bathroom, but she kept insisting I needed to go outside while others were allowed to wait inside. Ultimately I waited with my infant 17 minutes outside, which is frankly quite dangerous for a baby. I did understand her point that tented seating was closed because it was unsafe due to the cold, thus resulting in backed up reservations. However, the hostess used this as an excuse for the wait rather than helping her realize I wasn’t exaggerating when I was expressing concern about the weather and asked for an indoor accommodation while I waited for these 17 minutes.
I truly love the food at this restaurant. As I mentioned previously, I contacted management about this incident requesting that the manager contact me and that the teammate responsible receive corrective coaching by management. The manager could easily have contacted me, apologized, and assured me that it would not happen again - however, the manager chose to ignore me, again leading me to believe there is a much bigger issue at play in terms of the staffing at...
Read moreOh my gosh love this new little breakfast eatery in Denver. If you are a Top Chef fan (which I am), that is an added bonus eating the dishes of a former contestant. Went on a Sunday about 9:30, and they said it was a 40 min wait, but we were called within 20 min of arriving so that is a plus.
The overall vibe and decor is so cool, loved the 80’s music they played.
Service was great, I could see what I later found out was one of the owners going through and making sure tables were properly bussed and cleaned. We had to stop him to ask a question and he had no problem helping us out.
On to the food and drinks. I read some of the other negative reviews and just can’t see it. we got a Bloody Mary, Bloody Maria, and some kind of Aperol Spritz type drink. The bloody’s had the perfect amount of spice and the mix tasted fresh and homemade. My friends and I shared the griddled blueberry muffin and hashbrown animal style. That hashbrown is a must try if you are an In n Out fan. I got the burrito, and my friends got the tacos, and egg platter. I don’t know but I was in love with my burrito. The green crema sauce on top was so good. Scrambled eggs were so fluffy. I wish I could’ve eaten the whole thing but after sharing a muffin, the hashbrown and my bloody, I only managed to get half of my burrito eaten. They make their sourdough bread in house and my friend said it was so good (nice and thick slices). My other friend who got the tacos finished almost every last bite and raved about the chorizo patty in them. So they also have a “salsa” wall inside that you can grab salsas for your table but we did not partake. Overall we were so pleased with the food, the service and atmosphere. I want to go back so bad. They have so many good looking items on the menu but that burrito was so good I don’t know how I can go there and not get it again.
Just an fyi they do add a 20% service charge on the bill which our server was nice enough to mention (although if you read your bill you will see it stated on your receipt), but I think that seems to be the norm at a lot of establishments these days. I live in Castle Rock and even know a restaurant that adds an additional fee for the back of the house staff. I am totally okay with this, and we still left the waitress an extra $15 tip on the bill. For three people, with three boozy bevs and all that food, our bill was a tad over $100 with the service charge. Portions were good too. We will...

Order-to-Food: 8 minutes
We got in line virtually at 10:10AM on a Sunday and we were number 46. We arrived at 11:10AM, told the hostess we were there, and were seated at 11:30AM. Parked in the neighborhood down the street.
If you arrive early, you can order beverages from the counter. Unfortunately, they won't let you transfer a tab to the table, which doesn't help with using promotions (more on that below). We were seated in the corner outside, which was suitably comfortable with seat cushions on the bench.
Service here is exceptionally fast! We got our food in less than 10 minutes from when we ordered. We were going for a $75 subtotal to get a $25 discount via inKind and ordered:
Person #1: Pineapple Mimosa: A nice twist on the orange mimosa. Loved that they had some options for the juices. Best Bobby Flay-Vos: Pretty good green hatch Chile sauce. I thought the portions were a bit small, but I took a bite and they were quite good! Yogurt Parfait: I didn't try this but my friend enjoyed it. Cappuccino: Coffee isn't too intense here, a little burnt even. It passes, though, if you want something for the brunch.
Person #2: Pineapple Mimosa: See Above Foxy Burrito (4.5/5): Holy smokes, this thing is huge. I ate it with a fork and a knife. Somehow, the potatoes inside remained crispy, which was really impressive! I enjoyed this and left stuffed. Sausage Roll and Spicy Maple (2.5/5): This is like a pig in a blanket, or for Southerners, a drier and less flavorful kolache. Being from the South, I vastly prefer our kolaches and this was too pricey for the small morsel that it was. Matcha Latte (4/5): Decently large and with a more earthy matcha taste. Nothing crazy, but I liked it more than the coffee I had.
Overall, a really cozy brunch spot where a long wait is mitigatable with some planning. Great spot to use inKind credits or a referral. I paid via inKind and applied a discount with...
