The Capital Grill 1450 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80202 From the moment we stepped into The Capital Grill on Larimer Street, it was clear we were in for a special evening. With a bustling atmosphere filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses, the restaurant exuded an inviting charm that made us feel right at home. Our party of nearly 40 was swiftly ushered into a private room, which perfectly accommodated our celebration and allowed us to enjoy the evening without interruption. The service was impeccable! Our main waiter, along with a well-coordinated team of staff, ensured that every need was met with a smile. I was particularly impressed by how attentive they were—our drinks were constantly topped off, and the timing of each course was flawless. It felt like they could read our minds! Now, let’s talk about the food. We started with a selection of made-to-order appetizers that set the tone for the meal. The Pan-Fried Calamari was perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of heat from the hot cherry peppers. The Prosciutto-Wrapped Mozzarella paired beautifully with the vine-ripe tomatoes, delivering a fresh and savory bite. But the star of the starters was undoubtedly the Lobster and Crab Cakes, which were rich and packed with flavor. For our salads, we opted for the Field Greens with Parmesan Vinaigrette and the Wedge with Bleu Cheese and Smoked Bacon, both of which were fresh and delightful. When it came to entrées, we were truly spoiled for choice. I chose the Filet Mignon, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Others at the table raved about the Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye and the Pan-Seared Sea Bass, which was complemented beautifully by shiitake mushrooms and miso butter. The Tomahawk Veal Chop was another highlight, served with sage butter and Marsala jus that left diners craving more. The Roasted Chicken Breast stood out with its rich mushroom and parmesan risotto—comfort food at its finest. Accompaniments like Sam’s Mashed Potatoes and the Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese were the perfect sidekicks to our main dishes, while the Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Mosto added a refreshing touch. To wrap up this culinary journey, we indulged in the chef’s selection dessert platters. Each bite was a celebration of sweetness, a delightful end to an already exceptional evening. We paired our meal with the Austin Hope 2022 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, a smooth and rich wine that complemented our steaks beautifully. The outdoor seating along the closed-off roadway added a nostalgic charm, allowing us to soak in the vibrant energy of the old town atmosphere while enjoying your meal. My experience at The Capital Grill was nothing short of outstanding. From the attentive service to the exquisite food, every aspect made for a memorable evening. I am already looking forward to my next visit to this gem in downtown Denver!

We had the best experience ever. We were first asked for gluten-free menus which we did not need anyways but that was very nice. Our server was extremely nice he was the head waiter although I do not remember his name he helped celebrate him me and my dad‘s birthday. The head waiter was extremely nice very calm and understanding of the fact that my stepmom needed a menu that was garlic free-based and onion free-based. They were able to accommodate us very well and gave us extremely delicious food. The food was out of the road and he really reminded me of my Nana who used to teach me how to make the specific food that I was able to taste. I was so happy to be able to actually taste something that I knew my Nana used to make concerning when she passed away. This atmosphere and experience was amazing and was quite literally the best fine dining restaurant I have been to in a very long time. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful with a huge glass display of being able to watch the chef with A gorgeous metal eagle and time clocks next to them for every location that you might come from in the countries. They will also make sure that if you wanted leftovers they will pack them for you by taking them for you and then pack them in the back. Additionally they were able to celebrate my dad’s birthday by creating a beautifully embroidered chocolate the decor happy birthday with a crème brûlée cheesecake and a moose That was to die for. Everything was extremely good and I would recommend this restaurant to whoever would want to go here the price we had paid for was $$$$ but worth all of the experiences

Well, quite disappointed with this experience, tbh. Special occasion, celebration, looking for a nice dinner that we haven't had before. Good reputation, reviews seemed good, thought we'd try it out. Steak, seafood and potatoes, what a shocker! It's like the menus are just cloned in every restaurant. Can't seem to find individuality or style anymore. There was little to recommend over all. The wine selection was nice, but our server broke the cork. It happens, but kind of set the tone for the rest of the meal. The appetizer of mozarella wrapped in prosciuitto was not what I expected, though tasty. The portion sizes are massive, and I wouldn't consider a pound of cheese an "appetizer". The beet and chevre salad was also not what I expected. Again, massive portion, and a mountian of salad leaves that were completely unnecessary. I would have preferred sliced, roasted beets, with slices of chevre, topped with chopped pistachios and lightly dressed with the citrus vinaigrette and perhaps topped with some micro greens. This was a massive pile of heavily dressed salad leaves. I went excavating and found a few beets and a couple of blobs of chevre and I ate that bit only. The chevre was good. However, most of the salad went back for the trash. Just way too much food. The pistachios were pulverized into dust and dificult to enjoy as they were adhered to the over dressed leaves. The proteins were again, massive. A 10 oz. filet is huge. I would like to see some much smaller portions on offer. A 5 or 6 oz filet would be a nice size to offer. Hubs got the surf and turf, and over all the proteins were cooked perfectly. A medium well on a 10 oz filet isn't easy. The sides are sized to share, and were unfortunately inedible. The au gratin potatoes had a different flavour in every bite. One bite was creamy, the next cheesy, the next was nothing but salt. There was, for some reason, a mountain of bread crumbs over the top, Like an inch thick, just SO much breadcrumbs, I don't know why, it added nothing and we scraped it off to the side. The soy glazed brussels were just burnt and gross. There were huge chunks of smoky bacon in there, very salty, really big pieces, and it just clashed with the burnt soy glaze so much. Not carmelized, burnt, and super salty. I ate maybe 2 oz of my filet, hubs ate his lobster & were took the proteins to go and sent the rest back uneaten. We were credited off the sides, but over all it was very disappointing and such a waste of food, effort, time and money. Most of the food was portioned way too large and we didn't eat it, what we did try to eat was not palatable. We drove over an hour and half and spent over $400 for a meal that was worse than anything I could make at home. A lighter, seasonal menu on offer would be something to consider, as for this being a summer meal it was portioned way too large and way too heavy, even the salad was so overdressed it was just so much too much. I've spent similar for a meal all over the world, and the flavours, the execution and the value were all lacking. I would give this a hard pass. Didn't even bother to take photos. Inedible and...

Being a long time fan of CG, consistency is expected. Your bartender on Monday night (Jan 8th unfortunately didn’t grab his name) is absolutely phenomenal! Truly! What a pro. Michele took incredible care of the whole group and was impecably attentive from wine service, to suggestions for the whole table. She is a true professional and so is the bartender. Being greeted by the hosts left much more to be desired, coat check wasn’t offered upon checking in for the reservation and between two individuals at the front at a mostly empty restaurant service could have been much more welcoming, I ended up greeting the staff and not much came in return. I felt quite I welcomed and headed to the bar right after checking in to sit by the service well with your lovely bartender. The host gentleman was very service oriented I will say. Coat check was offered once half of the party was seated and it felt a little awkward. Would have been wonderful to have seen a Maître D’ stop by the table as we would have raved about our service all around however that didn’t happen. A lovely dressed blonde what seemed to be manager walked by our kitchen table at some point with a 55 inch TV (clearly from a college championship private event showing) was kind of odd to see given a server assistant and server walked right behind her leisurely smirking and yet again it was kind of an awkward moment. Oshibori service from Michele was also lovely. Over all service from Michele and your bartender was absolutely phenomenal and it’s something to return for to this particular location for.

When it comes to the food, shrimp cocktail was over cooked however the rest of our apps were wonderful. It was fantastic to have Michele extend the table for us from a normal 4-top into a round so there was enough space.

Another odd moment given we were sitting right by the kitchen is the fact that the kitchen was cleaning the walls with a mop at 7pm, they were clearly attempting to get some of the grease stains out but was a rather unpleasant experience as we just placed in an order for wine to be decanted and apps… this is normally a closing activity. Worse is the fact that there were two tables seated directly by the glass wall next to the kitchen and this still continued for quite some time. I have never seen walls being cleaned with a floor mop before so this was really a number.. Not at all something I expected to to at CG ever or similar caliber reputation-based joint.

Service was great. Food was great. Few things to clearly...
