It's aight, namsayin? Like, you can get some astronaut spec, freeze-dried potatoes that don't have enough substance in them to still be warm by the time they hit the table next to your clammy eggs and Safeway budget-brand, EBT-grade, on-sale-cause-ain't-nobody-that-cheap bacon you just paid like $15 for.
Format is a little odd. Order at the counter, leave a tip for someone, I guess, for some reason, then choose your own adventure while you drink some half-baked, lukewarm $7 drink that should be really good, but you know... It kinda tastes like a Swiss Miss packet you found under the van seat, but it's aight, or whatevs... Anyways you'll have plenty of time to check out all the chotchies on the wall from that "My 1st Cafe Starter Kit" they got on sale at HomeGoods while you wait for the line at the self-bussing dish depository to die down so you can sort your recyclables and get on with your day.
It seemed like it should be really good from the photos and the reviews, but, you know, like I said, it's aight... If you're the demographic that loves your Subaru even though it breaks all the time and rides like a reusable grocery bag full of dog hair encrusted takeout containers, or if you're the kind of Golden Retriever-esque, young urban professional transplant who insists on taking your Tinder date up for skiing on a Sat at 8:30am so they can experience the good life of I-70 traffic and Ikonic underwhelm that they just never knew before you, this place will vibe so hard with the lack of personal assessment skills and mediocre standards your cultureless soul loves about this environment. But if you strive for a good experience that you'll come back for, you should probably spend your...
Read moreI have been to Olive & Finch several times. I also recommend it to ppl for breakfast or coffee. I frequent the Cherry Creek location more often. I stopped in today because I was nearby and wanted a coffee and pastry. I also had a zoom call. I’ve worked at the other location before so I thought I could stop in here for a couple of hours. The first counter person was super nice and helpful. The 2nd wasn’t - she seemed annoyed. I told her 3xs which tart I wanted and even pointed at it. I might not comment on her attitude if it wasn’t for the next interaction.
When I left I told the ppl behind the counter thank you on my way out. And the person closest to me asked me if I enjoyed my stay, needed anything else and if I would be returning tomorrow - as if to indicate that I’d been there too long. Very snarky. In the age we are in of virtual offices and meetings, I’m disappointed in the conjecture that this is not welcome. There is no sign indicating one must buy a meal to sit or that there is a time limit for patronage. I did purchase food and multiple coffees and left tips. I was there for a little over two hours. I refer a lot of visitors to Denver to this place and I will be removing it from my list of...
Read moreWas a little disoriented when I first went in because I was expecting a full service restaurant and obviously that's not what we had walked into. However, my confusion was immediately noticed and my choices were cheerfully explained....check out the menu, order and have a seat. She may have mentioned other things but by that time my full focus was on the exquisite array of pastries in the case and her voice became a distant blah blah blah. So we took our menus and went outside and grabbed a seat. My choice...the Luca...the Olive and Finch version of an Italian which was WONDERFUL. The meat was thinly sliced, flavorful, accompanied by olive tapenade, cheese and fresh greens; all perfectly proportioned to the fresh crisp baggett. My husband had the Bogata skillet...he was not happy because there were sweet potatoes in it and he doesn't like sweet potatoes. He said he didn't see sweet.potatos listed on the menu. I don't know and I didnt check. The seating is not the most comfortable...benches and backless stools out on the patio where we were...not sure about the inside. Seating and sweet potatoes are why my rating is 4 instead of 5 stars. I did not get any pastries...saving that for...
