This is a relatively small venue. The seats (chairs) and they pack them in pretty tight, so it's not terribly comfortable. If there is a show that you really want to see, I would recommend buying tickets as early as possible, as they go fast for the more popular groups.
The price is a little high but not exorbitant. Drinks are a bit pricey and the selection is not great.
However, the comedy is always top notch and the small and cramped nature of the venue adds an element of intimacy to the experience. And with good comedy it's easy to forget that your legs are cramping or your rear end is falling asleep.
The bathroom is a little inconvenient to access. You must go down a couple hallways and through password coded door to access. The password, at least, is simple and conveniently posted.
Even so, I would not recommend going to the bathroom during the show or getting drinks or generally leaving your seat. As mentioned the room is small and cramped and rows are for all intents and purposes non-existent save for the front row and one row between The front and back seating areas. The doors close during the show so that the room except for the stage is very dark. Anyone moving will tend to be quite evident to most everyone in their close proximity or the entire audience based on where they are seated. It distracts not only the audience but the performers, as the door must bev opened, which is noisy and allows light to enter...
Read moreAmazing comedy festival, great service, and pretty decent pizza. We went to the 2nd day of the RISE comedy festival which featured 10 comics from all over the US and had a great time-every single comic was funny, professional, very diverse without excessive wokeness. The whole experience was a very welcome surprise as we had been to a couple improv or comedy shows a few years back in the venue's prior incarnation and the experience was very sub-par at that time. The remodel they've done is really working, the pizza from next door is good, the Q-code ordering process for both food and drinks helps really minimize distractions during the show and the vibe is really cool and the staff and crowd were all super fun. My wife got a decent spicy marg and i got a beer which tasted a little off but they switched it out to something else with no hassle. This show was also a surprisingly more adult (30's-50's+) crowd than we're used to seeing downtown which just mean the comics could play to 80's & 90's nostalgia, but also meant there was a big gaggle of seniors who wouldn't stop chatting during the show. We do note that this was a unique experience during a comedy fest/contest and that the everyday talent caliber might be less consistent but we'll definitely be back to check out more shows to test that hypothesis! Thanks RISE for a great experience and investing in raising the bar on...
Read moreI go to Rise almost every Wednesday. It’s a staple of the Denver comedy scene for locals and out-of-towners. It’s also a super fun vibe and Emily is a great host! Levi Elmore - since you’ve been doing comedy for 12 years, you should be the first to know that sometimes the host doesn’t always go in list order, and just because you sign up as #12 on the list, doesn’t mean that you’re going to go 12th. Rather than complaining about the fact that you didn’t go up within the first half hour of being there, maybe instead, you could try to watch other comics, and observe how they perform on stage because you can learn so much from them. Also, in my experience, if you have a time constraint & can’t wait for 2 hours, let the host know. They’re typically more than happy to accommodate. It’s also super disrespectful that your friend chose to body shame the host and say that she has a “linebacker body?!” Would you say this to a girlfriend, or even your own sister? I’m not sure which scene you’re from, but in the Denver scene, we show each other love, respect & support. I truly hope the review you chose to leave satiated your ego, because all it really did was make you look bad. Rise - thanks for being a chill mic that comics can work out material and share camaraderie. Emily - thanks for being a...
