Scruffy Murphy's — Restaurant in Denver

While my girlfriend was at her conference I decided to walk around downtown Denver. A good friend of mine that lives there suggested I check out Scruffy Murphy's, which is a great name. It has the look of a typical Irish pub, very charming, and had a pretty good sound system.

My friend told me about this spicy, pickle vodka they serve and I was very much intrigued. Sure enough, behind the bar I saw the vodka as well as other concoctions (see pictures). I had a "shot" (more like a double) of the vodka and some of the black cherry whiskey. If you love the taste of pickles that are spicy, you will love this drink! I really couldn't taste the alcohol, which might be why they poured a double, but the sour pickle taste was spot on.

The whiskey was also very good. A nice fruity blend that had the slightest hint of alcohol. I saw they had other blends with Skittles, apples, or peaches. Next time I'm in Denver again, I'm definitely...

The DJ there was very discriminatory toward my friends and I (Boogie Man Mobile DJ). We would politely request music and he would say they already played it with a very mean attitude or would not acknowledge us at all. When other’s requested music who were not of color he would play their song right away. Our group tried to ask multiple times for songs and he became more aggravated and dismissive with us. I did confront him at the end and he denied nothing when I asked if it’s because of our race and even chuckled at the situation while letting another white individual behind me go with their song. If you’re either white or a regular this is the place for you! If you are a minority steer clear. If zero stars was possible they would be receiving it. The bouncer is rude and the DJ is a horrific human. My friends and I went out on a Sunday for some karaoke and the DJ played zero of the ten songs each of us requested (we are Mexican). Every time we asked he was rude, dismissive and lied saying he couldn’t play the songs because someone else had already requested them. Anytime a white person or a regular requested a song he played it next. I will not be returning and I hope if you do not fit their desired description you don’t either.
