We started heading to Royal Taj Palace food truck at approximately 1:25 p.m. from Buckley and iliff driving all the way to downtown Denver at 15th and Wewatta. Initially GPS said that we would arrive at 2:07 p.m. which they would be closed. As we made our way the time came down until it eventually said that we would arrive at 2:00 on the nose. We arrived at 2:01 p.m. The service window was closed but my wife jumped out of the Jeep and ran to the passenger side window of the front and asked nicely if we could order some food. He was very nice and accommodated us. He made the food, we felt like, very special for us. Gave us things we didn't ask for like a full course with dessert and everything! It was amazing! It was incredibly tasty, it was hot and fresh. The naan was amazing. It was great! The spice level was absolutely perfection for my wife... it was a little hot for me but I really enjoyed it. We've been reading reviews about this place for a month or two and of course we decided to try it on a day where we were all the way across town in the rain in Denver traffic. Denver has traffic on Sundays.I Just wanted to say that this family really gave us an A+++ experience at the last minute, actually after the last minute, and we really enjoyed it. It lived up to all the hype that we've been reading and their service is second to none!...

So what makes this place so great? For starters, the chicken is tender and juicy - not tough or heavy on the gristle like some other places. All white meat. And did somebody say fresh? The vegetables have a ton of flavor as if they came out of a garden that morning. And it's not just the vegetables that have a ton of flavor - the mix of spices, herbs, and other ingredients they use makes their dishes remarkable (and a little spicy, although you can request to get it mild).
They have the best samosas I've found anywhere (especially when they're extra moist inside, as they can sometimes be just a little dry). Their chicken saag, chicken vindaloo, vegetable masala, and samosas are my favorites!
Finally, I should mention that I'm about as picky as it gets (especially when it comes to food) and have tried at least a dozen Indian restaurants in Colorado, as well as Indian places in London and other parts of the world. I can count on one hand the truly amazing Indian places and this is one of them. And to top it all off, the portions are generous and the prices are...
Read moreThis food truck up until 2 months ago was 10 stars out of 5. It was amazing. The food was so so so good, well priced, amazing portions and just reliably some of the best Indian food in denver. It has been a favorite of all the local businesses coming on their lunch breaks.
Rumor has it that unfortunately the Taj Palace we all know and love was bought by a new group. I went to check to check it out. The staff is all new and they are all very nice. The menu, prices and portions have all changed. Worst of all, the recipes have changed. That's why I'm giving TAJ a 2 star review. The food is nowhere near as good as it was before and it breaks my heart. Sag Paneer was watery and didn’t have much flavor. One less naan than before. I hope this new group can somehow replicate the old Taj's quality, and flavor... hopefully they can reach out to old TAJ and get those recipes because they used to be best in class. Now it's pretty sub average. IM SORRY I WISH I WAS REVIEWING THIS BETTER but it's just the truth. Bring...
