The good: Store is well stocked with seafood and other delicacies (spices and wine) and those that I encountered were friendly and eager to help. My Step-Father (SF) and did a fishing excursion and was told this is the place to have your filets shipped home. We brought our catch to the Destin Ice Seafood market and Deli to ship home. We received our catch in a well packaged insulated box and was still frozen by the time we received it. It was expertly repackaged, vacuumed sealed in freezer bags. Zero complaints.
The bad: My Step-Father called me to let me know that his Credit Card had been used outside of his control. I logged on to my Credit Card provider to find that there were no less than 20 instances where it had been used (Pizza Hut, Uber and Lyft mostly and something called Bird which I found out was a Scoter/Bike rental). It didn't take much to determine that I used that one credit card in two places during our trip, one was in the Atlanta airport the other was at this establishment. My Step-Father only used his twice, once was at a restaurant the other was again at this establishment. Suffice to say, it doesn't take much to determine where our cards were taken from. I did reach out to the manager/owner of the establishment to let them know and how we know so that they can look into better security. I was told they'll review the security footage and let me know. Have not heard back from them until I had to supply a new CC for the actual shipment.
Since they only ship on particular days, I'd be hesitant to have them (or you) write down all your CC information (CC #, Expiration, CCV). Sorry...
Read moreI'm sure the quality of food will be nice when I get there, but I have to say that the over the phone customer service is awful. I called to ask if they had any live crab in stock, and the guy said yes, I asked what they had and he listed stone, king, blue, and various others. I then asked him if those where the live options because at that point I was bewildered that they had those types of crabs in-stock and alive. He proceeded to be-little me, informing me that king crabs are in Alaska. So I asked him again, "what live crabs do you have in stock then?" And he responds with "we only have live blue crabs." So then I asked if he could reserve 4 of them for me, and he says "NO!!! Why would I reserve four of them, there is no reason for that I have about 500 pounds of them. They will be here when your ready to pick them up." Astounded by how rude he was, even if he was correct, I shrugged it off and laughed. I then told him thank you then and have a great day, as he hung up on me. I wish I had gotten his name to personally call him out but the call was made at 10:02 on Aug. 25th, in case you happen to record phone calls. If you weren't the only place (of which I know) that had live crabs, I would not be giving you any business of mine. That guy is a genuine idiot for treating customers so disrespectfully. So I'm sure the food is nice and destin overpriced but the customer service is astoundingly bad....
Read moreFirst things first - only quality lives here. You'll pay for it so just accept it. Take their Kenny's key lime pie for example... $25. For a pie. I asked every living soul working that day if this was the best freaking pie to ever grace their lips for $25. TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS. Everyone of them swore it was and I took a gamble. Man, I'm glad I did. Best money I ever spent. Did I mention they also sell seafood? Only place in a 20 mile radius to actually steam their shrimp on order. $17.99 per pound for colossal shrimp that looked like a lobster and shrimp met at Margheritaville, got nasty and blessed us all with this creation. A shrimp-mongoid they call Colossal. Got steamed with light seasoning, would have gone mild if I wore my big boy pants that day. Get their house cocktail sauce... just enough horseradish to make you wince. Whole bunch of free cheese and fish dip samplers and good wine selection. Good little wine selection, some very interesting niche selections I dont see often. More gumbo and cajun seasonings on the shelves I've never seen....
