I went there while on a business trip and I wish I found this place on the first day. They make fresh stuff and it sure tastes like it and tastes great as well. Thier corn beef and pastrami sandwich rocks. Much better and cheaper than the famous Katz Delicatessen in NYC. I also had the fresh albacore tuna and turkey sandwich, and they are fresh and good as well. I even heard another out-of-town guy eating a breakfast platter make sounds and express how good his plate was. There was another group of guys who said they ate there every day for the same business trip. The owner is very friendly and passionate about his family style business and was fun to chat with.
The only thing is I would recommend them carry non-dairy milk/creamer. I was surprised they didn't have this since they are a block from the Huntington Place convention center where people from around the world go.
I highly recommend you check out this place when you are in Detroit. I stayed in Windsor, but woke up early to take the Tunnel Bus to eat at this place...

Was visiting Detroit for a few days in March and was thirsty, so i stopped in to get a juice or something. But after checking out the suprisingly large and diverse menu with an Eastern European touch i decided to get a meal. The Balkan Scamble was unique and fantastic, as well as the pancakes, thin and fluffy. Food was made with lots of care and definitly not just thrown together; this was really impressive as it appeared to be a one man show and owner (i believe), who has an awesome, motivated, and honest work ethic. You can tell that he really cares about his small business and will work for your business. The price was super reasonable as well, and you get better food/service than other overpriced restaurants in downtown. As said earlier, the ambiance is not its strength, but if you wanna have a great meal from a very hardworking, honest, no-frills, small business then it is a great...

Shout out to the COOK, COOKING with LOVE an art that is lost in most establishments. The Waiters are pleasant and it's always a good experience when I come...
