Super Crisp is the handheld foods version of Ima, essentially. I had a spicy chicken sandwich, crispy bites, spicy miso soup, lychee and a side of kimchi. The sandwich was tender and well sauced, bun was lacking. The crispy bites were tasty and enjoyable for the first couple, but the immense salt content begins to drown out the more subtle and tasty ginger and peppery flavors which is a bit disappointing. The so-called "lychee" lemonade tasted like a basic lemonade with a bit more sour taste of lemon, and none of lychee, it was also far over sweetened.
The most surprising element of my trip to Super Crisp was not the flavor or appearance of any foods, but was the truly pitiful example of a "side" of kimchi which can be purchased for $2. A single 2oz solo cup comes filled with a couple spoonfuls worth of fairly bland and far too chopped kimchi. What a shock when it was placed before me. I thought it was some side vegetables for the spicy miso soup. There really is no reason to charge $2 for a single or possibly two bites of over processed kimchi. It was more like kimchi-flavored vegetables. Foods which are flavored like other foods in another form are ubiquitous on the menu, so in that sense, it is appropriate.
Overall, I would always opt for Ima. Many of the foods seem like a well executed translation of flavor combinations in unusual and unique forms. However the quality and portions are not worth the cost. If the foods were executed in a more authentic manner, the listed costs would be...
Read moreWas super excited to try this place based on a food critic who’s been in town reviewing spots. I wanted to try before then but the google reviews were iffy. I wanted to like this place more than I did but I’m sad to say I probably won’t return. The customer service was good. They were quick and attentive. We sat inside and ate. It was nice and clean inside.
The chicken sandwich which was had by my brother, he strongly disliked. He said it tasted like straight lemon. He also said it tasted old. It wasn’t old, it was the fact they used a chicken thigh and it was mostly fat towards the end. I tasted it for myself. It was bland and greasy. He got the Umami fries with them and they tasted like nothing.
The fish bites were ok. They gave me mayo and pickles to eat with them. I thought that was odd but the pickles cooled down the spicy-ness of the fish bites. I didn’t get a pic unfortunately. The kimchi fries were good but extremely spicy! I like spicy food but they were kind of too spicy. I loved the green onions and French onions, kimchi and sauce they put on them. Those fries are really thin though. I hate skinny fries. Strawberry lemonade was ok. Overall I give this place a 6. I can say I’ve been but not interested...
Read moreThe food here is really flavorful, unique, and delicious! You can tell they put a lot of thought into flavor fusions. It's like America favorites (hotdogs, burgers, fries, wings) but with an Asian twist! They do have vegetarian & vegan options. I called 30 minutes before closing time to place a pick up order and service was still very friendly. My husband had spicy chicken sandwich and hot fries; best spicy chicken sandwich we've ever had (we've tried many) and whatever the dipping sauce was for it added such a tasty twist. I had the curry burger (amazing!) And the umami fries. They have some special dipping sauce for the hot fries that I recommend asking for with the umami fries also in place of regular ketchup. We also shared the 5 piece spicy wings. 5 stars all the way around! The price is higher than average for burgers, fries, chicken sandwich, etc BUT you can tell it's because they're using more quality ingredients and even the take out containers & bags are eco friendly which costs more for them. it's one of those you get what you pay for and in my opinion it's worth the higher price. We will definitely be back...
