I wish it were possible to give more stars to this wonderful restaurant!! The service ... from hostess to waitstaff to those bussing tables ... was exceptional. All those we met were friendly, upbeat, helpful, and conversational individuals. We didn't even realize at the time we went that we were so close to their closing time since we had looked up the hours and had seen the hours for the other location. Not a single person working there gave the "I can't wait to get out of here for the night." vibe that you, all too often, receive when you're within even an hour of their closing time. Instead we were greeted, seated, and served by truly enthusiastic, wonderfully charming people who obviously love where they work. The restaurant itself is set in a great location across from the Eastern Market with a great view of the city. It is very nicely decorated, and very, very clean. The bathrooms were immaculate ... I can't think of the last time I've been in a restaurant with such a perfectly clean and well appointed restroom ... and the handsoap smelled fantastic! The food was incredibly good ... we started off with the rucola salad which is supposed to come with a labne dressing that we substituted with their lemon citronette instead ... it was divine! Then we had an order of their polpette (meatballs) which were tender, flavorful, and served with an absolutely delicious house made marinara sauce, coated with a healthy dose of freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano, and served with perfectly made ciabatta bread. Shonda's cheese bread was the perfect accompaniment. A beautiful perfectly thin yet still foldable pizza dough covered in mozzarella, provolone, and gouda cheese .... the stuff of dreams .... particularly when it's topped with some of the rucola salad! The meal ended with a spectacular cannoli with chopped pistachios. Truly a wonderful meal and my husband and I are tough to please with Italian food..... my hubby spent his first 41 years as a Jersey boy surrounded by the best Italian food to choose from (in Jersey and NYC) this side of the Atlantic and I'm terribly picky by nature but even more so with Italian food because of all the years going to NJ and NYC and also because I'm Italian and my kitchen, my mom's kitchen, and my sister's kitchen are the only places I normally think that get the food right! So, to say we liked the food would be a compliment .... but we actually LOVED the food, which just doesn't happen around here! Everything Supino's did was perfect and we'll be making the hour+ drive to this charming restaurant often for the food and hospitality! Special praise to our waitress, Jordan, for the excellent service and for making us feel so welcome! ⭐️⭐️Update 3 weeks later-Supino's is still excellent! The service and food are exceptional! No photos taken this 2nd time there because I've been thinking about that rucola salad ever since and didn't want to wait an extra second to eat it! We were blessed to have Jordan as our waitress again and she was just as much of a rockstar today as previously! If you haven't been here yet .... do you hate yourself? Show yourself a little love and treat yourself to a great meal at a great price with terrific service .... you deserve it and this is just the place to find all that and more!! 🌟🌟Update 7/11/2025-Supino's continues to shine! When I asked my husband where he'd liked to go for his birthday dinner there wasn't even a second's hesitation .... SUPINO'S! We arrived to our new favorite place and were, as always, greeted by a happy and friendly staff member who helped bus a table for us in a perfect corner spot by the windows. Our waitress, Hannah, arrived with a big smile and was friendly and attentive to us and all the surrounding tables on this busy evening all while treating every person she waited on with an excellent level of professionalism and her really fun, upbeat personality. The food was beyond excellent, as always!! You have to try this place!! I wish that I could write more but this is Google's...
Read moreHaving wanted to avoid a pretentious downtown Detroit restaurant we decided to drive home south and hope we would find a decent dining experience. We stumbled upon the Eastern Market area, walked in to Supino's and were delightfully seduced! We walked in 30 minutes before closing and weren't treated to any of the rudeness and resentment that is so common these days by closing personnel. Our greeter was friendly and our server Jordan was effervescent, helpful and a joy! The entire wait staff personally brought out our food as well and it was delicious and reasonably priced. As a bit of a Jersey boy snob when it comes to Italian food I can praise everything as original and delicious. We'll be back again and can't thank the staff enough and Jordan in particular for a terrific welcome. UPDATE! PIZZA! We stopped in earlier our second time while the market was winding down and the joint was rocking! The staff was friendly, energetic and professional. Can't praise them enough for their positive attitude. Young man behind the carry out counter noticed we'd been waiting and took personal care to get us seated. Had the pepperoni pizza and it was thin with a crunchy crust and fresh ingredients. Worth the trip from Toledo to enjoy great pizza. And that rucola salad....yum! And yes, Jordan rocked it again! UPDATE, UPDATE Went for my birthday and had energetic and attentive service from Hannah! She gave me a complimentary canolli and yes the desserts are...
Read moreI'm not Italian. I've never been to Italy. I do love pizza, though. And after hearing so much hype about this Eastern Market joint, I finally was able to try it out on my own. What a disappointment. Maybe it's because I enjoy the American version of pizza, favoring Buddy's, Loui's, or -- heck -- Little Caesars Deep Deep Dish. Or maybe it's that I don't have good taste. Either way, I tried it, and don't plan on returning.
Wait times are long. I get it. That's probably part of the charm of a hip place such as this. But it's pizza. A maximum cook time is probably 10-minutes for a charred outcome. Especially on a hot summer afternoon, it's a downer to have to wait 30-minutes for a plain pizza when there are only a handful of patrons in the place [the place was full -- but it's so small only a handful of people can possibly be there at a time].
If you're looking for custom thin-crust pizza, just go to a place like Mod Pizza or Blaze. You'll have a better tasting, mass-marketed pizza that is ready much quicker, and will get to eat it in a place where (a) you won't have to constantly wonder if you locked your car, and (b) you'll pay around 70% of the cost you'll fork...
