When a local Korean restaurant recently rebranded into a Japanese-Vietnamese fusion spot, I was intrigued. The combination of cuisines promised something unique, so I decided to stop by and try their offerings. The menu features staples from both culinary traditions: banh mi, pho, bun, and spring rolls on the Vietnamese side, and sushi rolls, sashimi, and hand rolls representing Japan. However, my experience left me with mixed feelings.
The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly, but the pricing is deceptive. Many menu items are listed with a “discount,” which simply brings them to the average market rate. For a rebranding effort, the menu lacked personality and failed to make a memorable impression, especially for the elevated prices.
My fiancé ordered the bún, and while it arrived with a generous helping of noodles, it skimped on toppings. The dish came with a small portion of fish sauce, so we had to request more to balance the flavor. Unfortunately, even with the extra sauce, the dish was unremarkable. The pork and egg roll were average, and overall, the flavor profile didn’t stand out compared to other Vietnamese establishments. A truly mediocre dish.
The shrimp crunch roll I ordered was a solid, safe choice. The shrimp was crispy, and the crab was subtly balanced, avoiding an overpowering mayo taste that can ruin such rolls. However, I’d recommend asking for the sauce on the side to prevent it from becoming overwhelming. It was good, but nothing beyond what you’d expect from a standard shrimp roll.
The pho experience was a rollercoaster. My first bowl was far too salty, but the chef personally addressed the issue, replacing it with a fresh batch. The second attempt was much better, with hot, clean broth that wasn’t oily. That said, the flavor was basic—satisfying but not exceptional. For $12.99, the “small” size felt unjustifiably tiny, especially when many other Vietnamese restaurants offer better portions and taste at the same price point.
While the late-night appeal of pho might bring some customers in, this fusion spot falls short of expectations for daytime dining. The food is serviceable but uninspired don’t match the quality or creativity of the dishes.
Friendly staff and cleanliness make for a pleasant dining environment, but these elements can’t compensate for the lackluster food. If you’re seeking value and standout flavors, there are better options nearby. For now, this rebranded fusion concept feels like it’s...
Read moreBeen here 3 times and the food for the first 2 times were amazing. Portions were huge and I could barely fit 1 roll in my mouth. 3rd time was today which was on Father’s Day and I was expecting to take my family out to eat good tasting and portioned sushi rolls. The rolls came out and I literally questioned my own existence because when they came out it didn’t look like I came to the right place.
Usually when the rolls come out they look presentable and have a wow factor to it. When it came out today I literally said what the F?!#. Rolls were smaller than something you would get at kroger. Fish quality and everything was the same but, the presentation didn’t have that wow factor and portions were WAY smaller than I had before. The fish piece was literally bigger than the roll.
When we asked the server he said it was a different sushi chef making the rolls thus the result of a smaller portion but, do yall not train the chef to make the same rolls with the same portion?? I would understand if they made a smaller portion to cut cost but, we were told it was just a different chef today. I paid $200 and would’ve been satisfied if they were the same portions that I remember but today, I was barely even full and I ate 3 rolls and I ain even big back like that.
Every roll that I picked up the as falling apart aswell so it made the eating experience horrible.
I’ll try this place again when I know the goat sushi chef is working. Other than that I wouldn’t come back if it’s the same chef...
Read moreIt’s okay …. This place is just confused on what it wants to be … it doesn’t know if it’s a sushi restaurant or a late night pho or drinking spot . Food takes forever … they dont excell in sushi, pho, or drinks . Its hard to get service , they rely on the touch screen they got at the table but I always have to ask a server for things anyways . it’s empty here most of the time. They make random cheap decisions like skimping out on meat one day then veggies or cutting shrimp vertically to add more yield . The sushi is slimy most of the time . Or cut oddly so it’s chewy. They charge a lot for fish but they do not really seem to care about the sushi quality . Honest every sushi place near by is the same price and taste a lot better . Not an exaggeration. Just a defrost and pull out the fridge slice in room temp and let it sit on the table for 20 minutes while the pho I bought is getting cold in the kitchen because they don’t know what order to cook the food . The pho tastes ok most times , but it’s different every day. However … it’s either like warm and that ruins the experience , maybe it’s good but who cares the food is like warm. Now I want this place to do well but … i just hope the...
