Cuckoos Chicken House — Restaurant in Durango

We had decided to try this location due to the reviews we were hearing and my son craving some wings, as we had arrived, there was a lady in front of us who was stating she had a big party of 12. I'm a very patient person especially having come from the service industry I understand they were trying to accommodate the large party. We waited patiently being a party of 6 for us to be acknowledged-when they were done setting up their tables a server had come over and stated we could sit down thinking we were with the lady's party, we stated we were a separate party of 6 and are waiting to be seated. They worked on getting our table set and we were finally seated. take in mind the big party in front of us had not arrived and only 2 people in their party was present. Our party of 6 was all seated and ready for service. Unfortunately we were ignored and the server from what I could see a waitress were the only 2 serving guests. Understandable...they proceeded to get the 2 guests-again their whole party was not there, their drink order. About this time we had spent about 20 mins waiting. Finally our server had come over and gave us utensils and stated our waitress would be over to get our drinks and orders. The big party arrived and the server started taking care of them, our waitress after waiting 5 mins finally came over and gave us menus and took our drink order. we waited another 8 mins before she had returned with 5 drinks not 6, we were missing a drink, she stated she would return with the missing drink and to take our order, she was apologetic which was fine, I can be nice and patient to a certain extent. I knew they were busy, after a good amount of time of not receiving the last drink or our waitress returning, I turned to observe what was going on and where our waitress had gone. I seen her across the room talking away to another set of guests, I stared until we made eye contact and thinking her seeing me she would at least remember she was serving us? I also noticed a 3rd server had entered the establishment, he was also taking new orders from what I could see- the waitress did not in fact come over or remember we were waiting, I gave my son my drink, he brought to my attention he didn't like Diet, I tasted it and realized she had also given us the wrong drink, I could see her making her way across the dining room only to stop at a single individuals table who just barely sat down and proceeded to take his order, This is where I started to get upset because being ignored then being patient and kind only to be forgotten! WOW! Still observing her trying to get her attention she proceeded to go to the drink station and serve the individual his drink & then returned behind the bar to start punching in an order. OK? I guess the flow of the restaurant is to pick and choose who you serve-because that's definitely how it felt. I finally decided to get up and make it known to the server with the cap and button up shirt that I would like to pay for my drinks because we have decided to leave. The experience was tainted and it felt ugly to be left sitting there trying to get service. The server asked who was serving us and I pointed at the waitress, he then told me Don't worry about paying for the drinks and he did apologize. We sadly departed, it was embarrassing and very demeaning. Maybe we will be back to give this place another shot, but as of right now I think this could have been handled better.It took us an hr to finally decide to leave, goes to show I was trying my...

Something has changed in this place. I have had wings from here before and they were pretty good but we ordered wings and chicken fingers to go and the whole experience was horrible. The girl that took the order over the phone acted like she didn't know what I was talking about and she was rude. I said I wanted the sauce on my wings because in the past they have asked if I wanted the sauce on the side. I am from upstate NY where wings came from and no one asks if you want the sauce on the side FYI. Anyway, she asked what I meant and I said I want the wings mixed with the sauce and she said, again, I don't understand, then I said I want the sauce on top of my wings not on the side, she replied we never serve the sauce on the side but then asked if my and my boyfriend's order wanted sauce on the side. Seriously?? We picked up our order and my boyfriend said can we have blue cheese and celery and the woman said "we always give blue cheese and celery". In the past they ask "do you want blue cheese or ranch and do you want celery". When we got home we had three small pieces of celery and ranch dressing. Not blue cheese. The worst part were the wings. They were huge. Like the chicken was on steroids. That is such a turn off. The drumstick part was as big as a chicken leg and the flats were just too big. They were breaded and slimy. I couldn't even hold them without them slipping out of my fingers. It was gross. I have had wings and they are normal size, not battered or breaded, and they are crispy even with the sauce on them. I have made them myself and it is just chicken wings, fried, crispy and coated with the sauce. Simple. These were awful. Also you guys should have kept coke products. Change isn't always...

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Durango. Been going here for 20 years. But, this is the most inconsistent restaurant in town as well. It's either amazing or ok and that goes for food and/or the service. It sucks when there's more 'ok' days then there are amazing days. Last night I got the honey garlic parmesan and ranchers choice flavors. The ranchers choice used to be covered in the seasoning. It barely had a sprinkle. I took it home and added more. The honey garlic parmesan was missing garlic and parmesan. It used to be filled with garlic, I might of saw maybe 10 minced garlic. They didn't used to charge extra for certain sauces, and I don't mind paying the extra if I'm receiving the extra. Didn't have time to say anything as I got a call I needed to meet someone at the ER during dinner. The other meals were correct and good. Oh and serving sizes vary vastly here, sometimes within the same night and on the same table. If it was amazing every time, we'd eat here more often, but hard to spend money on...
