My partner and I had a great time on our Durango Animus River rafting trip! Everyone in the company was super wonderful and accommodating of me and my service animal, Kita. They made sure that the way I had Kita on board with me was safe for both her and me, gave us some helpful tips. Our guide, Lila, had experience with taking dogs rafting, so that was a great thing. She was very knowledgeable about the river and the town, was hilarious and shared a lot of fun facts and jokes with us on the trip. Everyone had a blast!

For other service dog teams: call ahead and let them know you are coming so they can make preparations. They do have a friendly well-trained dog in the office so make sure your doggo is well socialized! Kita rode with a RuffWear life vest and rubber socks so we wouldn’t risk a puncture. (Although I’ve been told that was overkill! 😂) Make sure they will maintain a sit or lay down command even if startled as there are some level 3 rapids and you definitely will want them low when you go over them. As it was Kita’s first whitewater raft trip, our guide safely stowed my paddle for the class 3 rapid and rearranged the rest of the folks with paddles for the big rapids so that I could have both hands available for Kita if I needed them. I’d advise a trip in a kayak or canoe as a...

Our experience was fantastic! Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job not only ensuring our safety but also letting us enjoy the river to its fullest. Hannah was our personal guide. They ensured the boats weren’t over crowded for us to avoid getting stuck like other companies, not to name any names that start with C. lol I could sense a healthy rivalry that made it even more enjoyable. I also enjoyed seeing the coworkers interact with each other just having fun. They weren’t afraid to have some fun and encourage us to join in which I needed and enjoyed! We have two young children with us, 4 and 6 and I never felt like their safety was compromised. The safety measures were explained to us in detail and Hannah was always more than willing to answer our silly question during our time on the river. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate. Just do it! It was one of our highlights of our trip even with younger children. Also, buy the pictures because you won’t be taking...

My wife and I did the Upper Animas 2 day trip and it was amazing! Everything was very well planned, the camping and food (John and Aly were great chefs) was fantastic, and everyone was very fun to be around.

John was our guide and was great! He was very knowledgeable about the river and the surrounding area. It was fun learning more about the area while cruising down the river.

I also have to say Carl, the leader of the safety raft, is a walking encyclopedia! Anytime we had downtime, he was chatting with us and giving us a ton of facts about the area. Jack and Zach were on his boat and even though we didn't get to hang out with them as much, they were great to be around during any downtime or hanging out at the camp site.

Can't finish this review without giving a shout out to Logan and Aly. They are soon to be guides and were on our raft paddling away with us. Super nice people and I'm sure will be amazing guides very soon!

All in all, can't recommend this...

We did the family lower Animas rafting trip today and had a blast! We took our 4 and 9yr olds and it was super family friendly. Kina was a great guide and made sure we all had fun! Pirate Pete was definitely an honorable mention! It rained on us right as we reached the rapids which made it even more of an adventure! We will be back to use Mountain Waters Rafting again! We came back and brought friends! Everyone had a great time on the lower Animas again. Brielle was a great guide and made sure everyone had a good time! All the guides do such a great job making sure everyone is safe but also having fun! There’s never a dull moment! The river was higher for this trip which meant all 7 and under had to walk around some of the rapids. It was still the highlight of our trip.
